I will begin radiation and Chemo at the end of this week. I am wondering if I should fixe up a separate bedroom for myself. I am thinking that I might be getting up and down a lot during the night ( I already do) and that my husband won't get good sleep while I go through treatement. Cn anyone share about this? I wonder if you all think it is easier to have a private bedroom or continue sleeping with hubby. We are very close and I would hate to be away from him butI want to be practical. Thanks.

" Scobb, I have been taking Ativan since my surgery in January 09. It's for nausea, nerves and sleep. It is sort of addicting but it helps me sooooo much. I sleep like a baby all night on just one low dose pill. I take half a pill sometimes during the day for nausea. When my chemo is over and no more nausea then I will have to wean myself off of them, but I sure need them now. Ask your Dr. about them. Then you can sleep with your hubby with no problems. Take care, my prayers are with you. God is the Great Physician. "

" HI Scobb, I only had trouble sleeping the night of chemo because I slept all through chemo and would nap when I got home. They were giving me huge doses of Benadryl and added in Ativan when I reacted to Oxi. So, I got two sleep inducing meds pre chemo and it messed up the one night.

I think you'll be more comfortable WITH hubby. Keep your mind from wandering too much. "

" Scobb, I have quite a bit of trouble sleeping, but my husband and I have talked about this situation. I worry about him not getting a good night sleep, but he worries more if I sleep in a different room. He says he feels like I am pushing him away, when in all actuality I just want him to get some sleep. He is my night in shining armor that keeps repeating "for better or worse". We go to bed together around 10:30, I get up at midnight or so, come play on the computer or read until 4-5am, go back to bed and then we both get up at 6am. He goes to sleep with me by his side and I am there when he wakes up in the morning and that makes us both happy! The only advice I can give is talk to your hubby and explain how you feel, see how he feels and go from there.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

Deb "
