" What other classes do you take? There will always be classes that are hard or that you don't like, but don't give up. Tutoring and study groups should be availible on campus. "

" You say you are in a deep depression. Is it possible that there is more of a problem than just chemistry? If you have been feeling sad, irritable, and anxious for more than 2 weeks and you can't put your finger on a cause, you may want to talk to your doctor. "

" I hear you!! AH. I don't miss high school but I'm in uni and there's a stats class i'm repeating only to feel like i'm failing- with similar marks all over again. If i fail I compromise all study opportunity for the future. I can't seem to focus because I am depressed also and the ice cream/chocolate keeps hearing about it. "

" I'm with you. I managed to get through last year but the second half of the year I was so sick. I think I lost a total of 10 pounds because of the stress I was under. I don't want to do the same this year. I just want to go home. "

" i've had a lot of college issues myself, as well as my best friend having gone through trouble.

myself... my issues are anxiety related. for my friend, she had a lot of things she needed to see her doctor about, and it just took time.

first thing i will say, there is no shame in withdrawing from a class or even an entire semester or two because of depression. if you feel your depression is overwhelming you, take a break! i wish i had during my college career. i tried for two years to just push through it, and i would have done a lot better if i had just taken a break.

as far as trouble with a class... talk to your prof and let him/her know that you're just having trouble with the class. (s)he may have some websites or material that you can check out, or even office hours for you to go and see him/her for some extra help. most colleges also have tutoring sessions. you can also ask your classmates if any of them mind getting together sometimes to study in a group 'cause you wouldn't mind the help. " I feel the same way about my physics class. I love physics, but it's calculus based and REALLY HARD!!! Find some people in your classes that would be willing to work with you. Form a study group, visit your professor during ofice hours, whatever it takes. My dad keeps telling me, "If college was easy, everbody would do it." Don't be afraid to ask for help- nobody will think any less of you. As for the depression... It may just be adjusting to the new surroundings, but if you suspect something more serious, talk to your doctor or the campus health services. You know your body better than anyone else. Feel free to send me a message if you ever need somebody to talk to. "

" Chemistry sucks. I'm a chemistry major. I research chemical education. College chemistry is hard because you are not prepared for it in high school. If you were to withdraw you would not be alone, not even close. I understand how you feel. I have had chemistry issues myself. Take a deep breath. I'm here if you need to talk.. or even if you decide to continue and you need chem help ;) "

" I actually am depressed to. I sucks. Seriously, just take things a little bit at a time. Do things when you feel like you can. It's really hard though and you may want to deal with your depression. I know I have a hard time focusing but if I do things when I can focus and do a lot, I'm okay. Just break up assignments and plan ahead. I just look a week in advance or I get overwhelmed. "

" It always harder to make it up if it is something that you need. Make sure that dropping it won't mess you up later. "
