My "True" Friends

Well recently things have been really tough on me and I've been sick. I thought I was catching the flu earlier in the week and my roommate (she's supposed to be my best friend...) was a total bitch to me about it. Tuesday I woke up and couldn't get out of bed because my head felt like it was going to explode and I was running a fever of 101. When I asked for a blanket she asked me if I was aware that I only had a cold...
Later at lunch she compared me to her best guy friend when he's sick. She was saying how I was just like him and he's such a baby and whiny when he's sick. This really pissed me off because I was feeling like shit. I went to talk to one of our mutual friends about it and she told me to stop complaining. Later she brought me something to drink and spent the afternoon watching TV with me. Our little "group" of about 8 friends ended up hearing that I was mad at my roommate for being a bitch and so they all turned on me for "gossipping" about my roommate... I got bitched at for talking about my roommate behind her back when they were ALL sitting in the hallway of our dorm talking about me while I was sick in bed! My roommate never asked how I was doing or if I needed anything... But when our neighbor was feeling a little queasy one day, she wouldn't leave her side.. She's supposed to be my best friend, they ALL are, yet I feel like they are all ganging up on me. They get mad at me for talking behind their backs, but then they do the exact same thing. I can't talk to any of them because they just go tell each other... I'm not sure what to do at this point. Posted on 10/23/09, 11:10 am |

Sorry to hear you've been sick lately Babbit. Be sure to try to rest as much as you can and drink plenty of liquids :D The H1N1 flu is going around different areas around here so I understand about how you feel being sick.
As for your roomates I hope it doesn't sound harsh but they don't sound like real or true friends to me. To me, friendship is somewhat like a marriage, for sickness and health and for ups and downs. If they weren't that concerned about you during your time of illness, it would make me really question the authenticity of the friendship. For example, if you had to be hospitalized would they have said the same rude and inappropriate things to you? Also, what if you were sick and stranded far away from home, would any of them be there in such a time of crisis? Personally, I can't tell you what to do with regards of continuing a friendship w/ these girls or not as only you know them better than I do. But I can say that if they were your true friends you could not only count them on one hand, but they also wouldn't have a problem returning the favor. Good Luck! :D

one word: females. They are caddy and it doesn't get better. Sucks doesn't it? You think they are your friend until they turn on you. It'll happen more than you want, but it gets easier to get rid of the ones who don't care. Keep your head up, you're obviously better than that.
Hope you feel better!!!
