" I had to pay $108 on a textbook for my Native American History class and $80 on one for my Art History class. The two books I needed for my Drawing class were less than $40 together and luckily, Digital Photography requires no textbook. "

" I would also recommend Half.com.
Craigslist is a great place to look up texts also. I was able to get a $140 text book for $90, and it was in EXCELLENT condition! "

" half.com or amazon.com or you can borrow books from other colleges just check out you library. dont just take art because it doesnt have books but if you really want to take art and not business then that is fine too. "

" I got my textbooks early...and was able to get mostly used ones. I think the earlier you get your books, the better chance you have of getting used books.

Also, I heard that half.com and amazon.com, like others mentioned here, are a good place for cheap books. "

" something i learned summer semester....i wish i had known about a long time ago is Chegg. you can rent books. rent them and send them back and the prices are way better. i would rather rent a book cheap and send it back...then buy a book and sell it and not even get half the money back. "

" Textbooks can be crazy expensive. I like to use bigwords.com--you can put in a list of all the books you need, and it'll compare across a bunch of different sites and come up with the cheapest possible way for you to get all your books. It's pretty cool. "

" If you don't mind being a bit dodgy - hunt google and find it in PDF form from a site like Rapidshare.

Buy the textbooks you actually want or need to own (eg. books you will refer back to for years to come, or books you really need to have as a physical book to be able to read effectively) and get the rest in PDF from the internet, or just read the reserve copy at the library. "
