I start school tomorrow--brand new school, and coming from a community college to a private university.
I'm terrified.
Any advice on how to calm myself down?

" Valium.......yes, that was sarcastic. I haven't had to switch schools before, but my husband is in the military so moving and meeting new people is a constant in my life.

It's no fun, but if you try to think positive about it, the experience can be great. If it's the bigger class size or something along those lines that you are worried about, just remember that everyone that you see has been in the same position as you before.

I hope that your day goes well. Take a deep breath and jump in. I'm sure you'll do fine. I'll cross my fingers for you.

Will you let us know how your day goes? "

" you have a great advantage coming from a community college vs going directly into an institution. One, you already know what college will expect of you in term of time and classworks. Two, you should by now established some sort of study habit. Three, you know how to say no to people who wants to monopolize your time and therefore you should know how to budget and time management better.

With these skills, I believe you should be well prepared for a private college. Private college are just like community college in term of the smaller class size. You should get like 20 students per 1 teacher ratio which is great if you ever need help. The rat race pace is slower at the private college vs universities. You won't feel much of a shockwave coming from a comcol. Private college is also great because you don't have much temptations as if you are at a larger university unless you go looking for these temptations, you should be fine. The only major downfall with private college is the resources available to you but if you are in a city, you can take advantage of universities' resources like their libraries to do researches. I hope this help. "
