At the moment i feel like an ivy league school is the only way i can afford to go to college because they seem to be among the few schools that have need-blind admissions and they're the only schools ive looked at who will pretty much pay for my entire college costs if im just able to get accepted....but ive heard from a bunch of people that the ivy-league schools are stuffy and not for the free-spirit types and also that its more the prestige of saying u graduated from one of them than actually getting a good education.....i dont know what im supposed to do....yes i know this seems very unimportant so please dont put that in the reply....lol.

The name matters...it will open doors. You really educate yourself and courses are about equally as hard everywhere. Your diploma is an achievment that no one can ever take away from you...it's a precious possession. Shoot for the best program you can get into...be positive and excited. Socially, there will be wonderful people wherever you go...and people you don't care for, too...that's life. Best Wishes!

I disagree with joanna3 about courses being equally hard everywhere. That's just not true. Grad schools take in to the account how hard of a college you went to, not just the name. There are some colleges my friends went to that it seems like EVERYONE gets all A's and B's, everyone.
As for Ivy's being your only choice, don't think of it that way. I go to one of the so called "new Ivy's" (which has become even harder to get in since being named to that list). Anyway, it's about 45K a year, not counting books which can be expensive depending on your classes. That being said, I only have 10K of loans to pay back and have probably paid less than 10K out of pocket to go here. They have a GREAT financial aid for people who can't afford to pay for college. There would have been no other way for me to go to college without their aid package and I am VERY thankful that they have it.
