Dan, looks like you have a fan club of women on here....congrats on the 2 year mark. And you are oh so right to give credit to the God of your understanding. You talk about folks reaching that point so low that they are willing to do something different. Where they are able to surrender to the reality of their disease. You and I are blessed,we had THAT moment of clarity...understanding where our cocaine use took us, everytime we picked it up bad things happen to us and our absolute powerlessness over the decision not to use. WE surrendered to win...not easy for anyone, especially us addicts, self-centered to the core, not knowing how to live without our "fix". Over the last 6+ years I have been in recovery I see lots and lots of folks walk in the rooms, beat up, willing for a day or two....then back out trying to win the battle on their own. I was one of those guys for a while, and I thank God for the moment of clarity I had that allowed me to surrender completely, and the willingness to stay in that surrendered position for the PROCESS of recovery to take hold in my selfish, resentful, self-pitying soul. I work at staying humble and grateful to God for that blessing in my life. So keep spreading the good news that there is a good life after active addiction, I always read that hope and belief in all your posts. Your fellow traveler on this road.
