Cocaine Addiction & Recovery Support Group

A loved one in their addiction is totally in self-distruct mode. Get out, go stay with family or friends the only way to get his attention is to force as many consequences of his using on him. I speak to you as a guy how has recovered from that seemingly hopeless state of mind that is addiction, and the only way I was willing to make any changes is when all the other options for me to keep using cocaine were gone. It's called tough love and please value yourself enough to get out of someone elses self-distruct path. Reach out and find a alanon support group (family of alcoholics support group) you will find folks there who have been where you are today. You don't have to go this alone. good luck and God bless

YOU ARE JUST AS ADDICTED AS HE IS. IT'S REALLY BAD WHEN YOU DON'T USE, AND ARE THERE. HE MAY LOVE YOU, BUT HE LOVES DRUGS MORE! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE NOT A VICTIM ANYMORE, YOU ARE NOW VOLUNTEERING FOR THE PAIN. YOU CAN LEAVE, THE DECISSION IS YOURS. BUT IF YOU STAY DO NOT CRY THE VICTIM ROLE, BECAUSE YOU HAVE VOLUNTEERED FOR THE PAIN

I agree with connecticut, if you stay then you have chosen to sink with him, nothing will change unless you change.
I know it is hard, i have been in your position but it will only get worse, put yourself first because he wont! good luck.

As one of our readings states "whats love got to do with it". I cant save someone who dosen't want to be saved. You might love him,however he doesent love himself. Until he admits complete defeat thers not much you can do for him. That's been my experince.

You should listen to each word by each poster the answers are there. get help with your codependency issues and your answers will come also.

yes i agree totally with all the responses! i myself have been there and done that, and i finally realized (being a user) if i wanted myself to be happy and stay clean that i had to leave him, as hard as it was and still is caz yea i do still love him but i knew he had to change for himself and not for me! and now he is back in jail for which i am greatful because at least i know he is alright, but theres noway i would of been able to stay with him he hindered my recovery and my sanity, and it sounds like your ready to crack youself hun! gather the strength and do what you need to do, maybe losing you will be enough for him to realize he needs to do somethign and fast! wish you all the best!
