I ready yesterday or the day before here on this forum about a boook by a Dr. Melissa Palner who I believe is a Hepatologist.
I was curious so I looked her up on Amazon.com to see how costley her book would be and there was quite reasonable and they had new and used copies. For the life of me, I can't figureout who menitoned thie book and apologize. But I wanted to share with all of you that are dealting with theis liver stuff, this is truly a must have book. I have already ordered one for myself and another to be shipped to my neice. Right now, Barb is getting worse since last Friday when we went back to Piedmont for her appt . Today they are checking to see if has had a stroke or something as her is very letharigic and exgremely bad coofdenation. The only things that can be done (once again) is for people to pray for her and hopefully this will pass. If nt I freally do no want her to just lay in that hospital bed until she dies. Please help us with the support of thoughts and prayers. You people are the best to me:-) Posted on 06/26/09, 06:06 am |

The book covers everything. I had NASH which is non-alcohol steatohepatitis. They never found a reason for my liver disease, but according to my medical dictionary hepatitis is inflammation of the liver. The Dr's mentioned that I probably had a hereditary inflamation and metabolic condition.
The book is called "Dr. Melissa Palmer's Guide to Hepatitis & Liver Disease" and I did find it informative.

If you google "liver disease palmer" you will find excerpts of the book on Dr. Palmer's site.
I took a peek at the book at Barnes and Noble and the information on her site, although not as comprehensive, is quite useful. The only reason I did not buy it then is because I was already late and the wife was getting impatient..
