Early Stage Cirrhosis

Hi, I am 33 and just found out in August that I have stage one cirrhosis, a liver biopsy confirmed this. I developed the cirrhosis from NASH, I am overweight and have admittedly not ate well till now. I go back in to see my specialist on the 17th and he told me until then to work on losing weight through a balanced diet and exercise (he gave me a list of foods to eat). So far since finding out on August 1st that I had liver issues I have lost 14 pounds.

My question for you all is this, I have read that cirrhosis is irreversible but that progression can be either halted or slowed down. So can I by losing weight, exercise and a healthy diet stop the progression of cirrhosis? I so far have none of the physical symptoms at all of cirrhosis and want to find a way to spend a full life with my two kids and wife if at all possible. Any input would be appreciated and sorry if I am rambling.

" My little sister was diagnosed with what they called "fatty cirrhosis", from the fatty tissue on the liver. but we found out, last May. and they said that she had to lose weight and that "if" she needed a transplant, that it wouldn't be "for a while" and now about a year later, we are on the list and waiting on a transplant, because she is having some shunting in her lungs, making it very hard for her to breath. anyhow, i think in the past... 4 months, she has lost 50lbs. and congrats to you on your weight loss also. but i guess what im trying to get at, is that even if you do it, there's a chance things wont 'slow down'. but that is what we all pray for. the doctors always say that losing a few pounds never hurt anyone, and once you get on the list for the liver, they monitor what kind of diet you work and if you live healthy and all that stuff, it helps when your trying to get a liver. they wont just give it to anyone who is not taking care of them selfs.

but tarrent, i will pray for you. i hope the best. be strong for your children. "
