What a horrible decission to have to make. I have no answers for you all I can tell you is to follow your gut....sounds like you have done a fantastic job so far. Keep the faith and know that you are in my prayers.

sorry it took so long to respomd....been going thru a lot recently. Lactulose is a powerfull laxitive. it's given to cirhossis patients to help prevent encephalopathy (brain dysfunction ) Encephalopathy is a way of getting the poisons nad toxins out of your body without a liver doing it. I imagine that they are giving it as a profalactic in a young child like yours. it means changing a lot of diapers for you. How's the baby doing? By the way it's an elixer you swallow. very very sweet.

thanks for all your replys I am so scared and not knowing where this will go. My baby is five yrs old John so no diapers. The dr said she had a good strong liver but she is starting to have some problems concentrating and paying attention and alot of behaviours she didnt have, so we will know Mon. if she quilifys for the trial, it is 8 months and there will be 60 kids half get the med other half sugar water then 4 weeks off and reverse, I was just thankful she is homeschooled and what the side effects of this are as I am not sure she cld explain to me what hurt, so I wld kinda know ahead of time. This paper says the childrens hospital will pay for all of the blood testing and thing and mention an xray and was wondering where that fits in at????THANK YOU SO MUCH ALL OF YOU!

Been taking Lactulose for 3 yrs, sides need to have toilet handy and gives me sometimes painful gas. Better than not knowing who what where? I Suppose to take 30ml twice a day but have adjusted down to ease gas and your daughter dosage should be by body size taste like sweetened honey??
