I meant to say I strongly suspect he has cirrhosis. Any thoughts????

It sounds like he has decompensated cirrhosis, and severely. He needs to get to see a doc and have blood tests etc done a.s.a.p. He certainly needs to quit drinking!
i would also feed him on Vitamin C and Vitamin B-Complex immediately as he is almost certainly malnourished. Not a lot else I can say unfortunately, but he does need to understand that if he has cirrhosis, alcohol will kill him. It could be other 'nasties' as well, but a good doctor or preferably a liver specialist will quickly confirm this. Sorry, but that's the way it is...... Craig
