Chronic Pain Support Group

I'm in shock here....I was so impressed with Exhausted's reply because I felt that she did a wonderful job at making a point....Not pointing fingers.
In no way did I feel that she was questioning anyone's chronic pain, simply pointing out the reason that (unfortunately) we all have to go through so much to prove what is wrong with us.
That anyone would suggest it was anything other than that blows my mind.

BS, I have gone thru this with Hartford. I know now from my attorney that they actually give the reps a bonus if they deny your claim. He said most will just give up and don't fight it when they should and that is what the insurance company is counting on.

They denied my claim last April at the 2 yr mark after doing video surveillance on me. They followed me for 2 wks and I left the house only twice to go to the ATM machine and make a deposit and to go to the doctor. The video shows me limping and using a cane. They sent the video to every doctor I've ever seen in the last 5 yrs and asked them if they believed after seeing the video that I was incapable of working. It was embarrasing. My PCP told them I still could not work. All of the other doctors didn't reply except for my podiatrist who said I might be able to do sedentary work. That was all they needed to deny my claim. It was unbelievable. My podiatrist has never even taken my temperature.

Now I have to appeal and have an attorney who if I win will take half of my pay.

Their behavior is harassing and unethical and I've heard from many others who have gone thru the same. I was twice as sick from the stress of jumping thru their hoops.

Aetna sucks they denied my long term disability but paid the STD for almost a year. Their doctor looked at my records then called my doctor asked a few questions and wouldn't even let my doctor talk. I just said forget it SSI disability attorney said Aetna is a losing battle and it would affect my SSI outcome. So what do ya do?

You stories make my skin crawl! OMG, I can't believe (well... yes I can), that human beings can be treated so unfairly! I hope that you both will win at the end! Another sign that insurance reform is badly needed...

Thanks to all your replies. I respect everyone's opinion because I know we all go thru this at some point. It is very unfair to the people who really are in pain that the ones who fake it put us in misery. Anyway thanks for all your support!
