I missed my appointment with my Pain management doctor and I do not know what to do. I am going to run out of medicine soon and do not get to see her until Dec. 7th. I need help trying to figure out what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you call the Doctor's office?????? If you had a valid excuse to have missed the appointment, there is no reason for them to deny you a partial script until your next appointment in Dec.
Call the office and be truthful with them.

Ginger,
Walk into the office, go to the front desk and explain. Take your meds along, and offer to pee if that is their policy. I had a similar problem, I called and told them I wanted to see the doc rather than the PA (the little jerk) which set me back a whole month. I got refilled, and didn't have to pee. Good luck-Snake

Did you call them as soon as you realized you missed your appt? If not call them asap. They need to know what happened. I found out with a past PM that they keep close tabs on you when they are prescribing narcotics. Luckily when I decided to not see them anymore, I called 24 hours in advance and let them know I'd not be coming anymore and brought the rest of the pills back to them 2 days later counting them in front of the receptionists. Just call them and say you had an emergency come up or something. Good luck to you :)

Ginger,
It has been my experience that a successful PM practice (in other words, one with significant patient flow, not a solo practice) don't have the time or resources to keep tabs on everyone all the time. If you go to such a clinic, you are probably anxious for no reason. As I have said, we seem to think that we personally are the primary focus of the doc, and we're all he ever thinks of, and spends all of his time trying to catch us doing something he can bounce us for. Truthfully, a practice like this has a primary goal of just getting through the day, and can't recall small details any more than I can recall what I had for lunch last Wednesday. It's in their interest to keep things smooth and flowing with you, if you can do your part to facilitate that relationship. -Snake
