" Yes, not only does this medicine cause tendon rupture, but is also black boxed for nerve damage. I was given this med 2 times in a row with no break for a skin infection (that it did not help) just 2 weeks after my first laminectomy/discectomy. Just as my back and nerves were trying to heal, I was given (by a family doc) a medicine that can cause nerve damage.

I will never know what, if any, role Levaquin played in my permanent nerve damage BUT I do know that all my docs have been notified that I will never take Levaquin nor any other fluorquinolones ever again. I have enough nerve damage, thank you very much.

Docs are supposed to tell us of these warnings and ask if we still want to take these meds. Most don't.

If you don't have insurance, can you look into a free medical clinic? Or a local lawyer for advice? I also cannot prove Levaquin caused the damage but my wiggle nerve is flared over it.

Take care,

Cheri "

" I took Levaquin two different times. Like cherirr said, without the doctor warning me about what could happen. I was glad to have it at the time because it did work. Then I read the side effects on the web. I won't take it anymore after reading about what can happen even after one round of it. I have enough problems without Levaquin adding to it. "Just say no". "

" I was given Levaquin for pneumonia. Just finished taking it yesterday. Doctor didn't warn me of any side effects, but I did read about them in the literature from the pharmacist. Considering how sick I was, I figure the risk was worth it. I am, however, worried about my tendons... the literature mentions potential problems for "several months". I have already had some tendonitis and hope this doesn't contribute to my problems. "

" I should add, I did try three other antibiotics first. Levaquin was the only one that helped me. "
