" Please don't give up. There are some dr's out there that can help. It's just finding them can be difficult. Blood pressure and pulse rate can really screw you up. Add in the different drugs that they want you to take for different reasons and it can really get out of control. Natural the dr will assume the worst of you but don't let them take that attitude. If you can't get the help you need then it's time to look for a dr who can. Good dr's can be very difficult to find. You need a dr. that will listen to you, that will believe you, that doesn't have their own agenda. I do hope you find some relief. "

" Please don't give up.
Sometimes when we take a drug it makes our bodies react differently.
My friend was put the patch and when she did, 5 hours she ended up in hospital with very high blood pressure due to the patch.
She was told she a bad reaction to it and to take the patch of and sat down with her and gave her different pain medications.
Most of us have doctors that have looked at this way, thinking we are seeking drugs for other reason.
I go into the doctors and don't really care about it, it's a choice of being in pain or taking painkillers and have told them all i care about is getting rid of the pain and if you think that i'm not that's your problem.
look for a doctor that looks after you and doesnt make feel like this, they are out there. "

" OK, I 100% agree with Bundymum. Not every medication is going to be right for you. There are going to be some meds that you and your body can not handle and the Fentanyl patch seems to be one of them.
First off, you need to see this PM right away and let her/him know that you got an adverse reaction to the patch and if she can please switch you to something else (bring all of the remaining patches to her, so she can count them). If she is reluctant, let her know that not every medication agrees with every patient, she should know that! We are all different, we are not cookie cutters!
You have to stand up for yourself and don't allow this Doc to bully you or call you an addict! If possible bring a family member or friend to be your advocate.

I don't know when the patches were prescribed to you, but this is something that we (all) must do. Before we drive, operate machinery, go to work, etc, we need to make sure that we are not having adverse or dangerous effects to the medication that we were prescribe. In your case, since your daughter said that your were driving weird or "not driving right", if you had a cop behind you that notice that type of driving; he could have stopped you and charge you with DWI.
In my experience I always wait 72 hours after a brand new drug gets prescribe to take my car out and drive. I do it "just in case".....

Do not give up! If this Doctor keeps on treating you like a drug addict, fired her!! Go find yourself another pain management Doc. You do not need to put up with abuse from a Doctor, no one does! I wish you well, and please, please keep us posted. Lots of hugs and well wishes to you. "

" Agree here with Bundymum also, I don't give a hoot what my PM doc thinks of me, alto so far I haven't had any indication one way or the other, but all I want is to get my script and have some relief from pain. I'm on the patch also, over a yr with no prob so far. Good luck, sweetie and what ever happens, do not give up! Come here and vent to folks who have been there and know just how it is. "

" Please don't assume that she was calling you an addict, but possibly checking to see if you might have mistakenly used more, considering the effect it had on you, and not realising it. My roommate did this with a sleeping med- took the dose and felt like it wasn't working, took another and then the first kicked in and he took more. Probably just trying to rule out a common error, so she could move on with other issues. Please be careful driving,I am a substance abuse counselor, and I get DUI clients all the time that just ran to the store or some other quick errand after taking meds. Cops don't care, just doing their job. And judges don't care either, again, doing their jobs. "

" Just for a reference; I have a sitting judge in my Sunday School class. The topic of getting convicted for a DWI came up. He told us that as long as the med was legally prescribed by a doctor, NP or PA, that it would be thrown out of court if a cop wrote you a ticket. Obviously you can abuse legal drugs and this shouldn't be construed as a get-out-of-jail-free-card.
The legal system here in NC is just trying to cut people some slack for a drug they might not be used to. This won't stop a lawyer from coming after you if you have a wreck and hurt someone, however. "
