This is my first time on this website and it looks like a great place to meet other people that might be going though what I am.
I should mention I have polymyositis and fibromyalgia; I am also a type II diabetic along with a few other health problems. Here is what is happening just over 2 weeks ago I stopped in my son room to watch a few minutes of TV with him, after laying with him for about 15 minutes I started to get up and my left leg gave out and I went down on the floor. My wife and son helped me get flat on my back on the bedroom floor and I just stayed that way for about 1/2 hour then with the help of my son and wife I was able to get in to my bedroom. The whole time I was having shooting pains in my right side along with muscle spasms like I have never had in my life. About 2 o’clock in the morning I woke my wife up and told her I needed to go to he ER. So we get to the ER and right away with no tests the ER Doctor says I am passing a kidney stone. Well they did a cat scan and found I had lots of little kidney stones in both kidneys so that is what the ER Doctor decided that is what I had so they shot me up with a bunch of drugs and sent me on my way. Oh the ER doctor said they could not see a kidney stone down low so he figured I passed it already. The pain never went away so after 3 days I did what the ER doctor said to do and I went and saw the family doctor and he give me some Tramadol after looking at the report from the ER. The Tramadol along with all my other medications did not help one bit. About 4 days later I decided to see a Urologist that I have seen a couple of times in the past, He looked over the report from the ER and did an X-Ray after looking everything over he said it was doubtful that I pasted a kidney stone and he thought the muscle spasms might be caused from my fibromyalgia and I should get in an see my Rheumatologist as soon as possible. I have going to this Rheumatologist for over 15 years it is such a pain to get an appointment. So after having a few tense moments and several calls later I got an appointment. Well Rheumatologist decided he wanted another cat scan done so we got that setup. I asked him what I should do about the pain that was making me walk at a 90 degree angle and double over from pain and spasms. He said he could not do anything until he knew what was wrong. Ok whatever I figured I would try and tuff it out. So I tried to put up with the pain for several days and then about 1 o’clock in the morning on July 1I doubled up with pain on my left side again muscles were spasms were front and back. So my wife loaded me up took me to the ER again. They doped me up and did the CAT scan that my Rheumatologist had ordered then decided I had better be put in the hospital to try and get the spasms and pain under control. The hospital in my town has an in house doctor that sees all the patients and then contacts the patients doctor and tell them what is going on and gets input from the patient’s doctor. The patient’s doctor does not come up to the hospital at all. Well after a couple of days the Doctor had my pain some what under control and the spasms were not as near as bad as when I went in. He also believed it was being caused by my fibromyalgia. He made an appointment for just after I got out of the hospital with my Rheumatologist The doctor at the hospital gave me a list of medications that I was taking while in the hospital. He told me that I should stay on them along with my normal medications I take. So I go to my appointment and give the list to my Rheumatologist. It was almost like he took it as an insult that the doctor at the hospital suggested what I should be taking. He would not prescribe any of the meds the hospital doctor thought I should be taking. So last night I did not sleep I hurt so bad I am worried that I am going to end up in the ER or worst the Hospital again. I called the Rheumatologist and he seemed like he could really gave a crap. I am at a lost at what to do. I cannot believe that this Rheumatologist that I have had faith in for the last 15 years is treating me like this. I could count on one hand how many times I have had to make appointments that were not my regularly scheduled appointments because of problems I could not get under control. It has been about the 4th time in 15 years that my wife or me had to go though his answering service so we could talk to him and try to figure out what to do. I am sure tonight will be another sleepless night. Last week I had went 48 hours with out any sleep and that is the night I ended up going to the hospital for the second time. I hope this makes sense what I am trying to tell. I hope someone has some idea’s on what I should do. I could understand the Rheumatologist being upset with me if I was a pest and bugged him and his office all the time but I don’t. I am sorry if these seems to ramble on but I am trying to let anyone that wants to read this know what the last few weeks have been like. I am not the best writer but this is something I needed to get off my chest. Posted on 07/04/09, 01:07 am |

I know with other drugs there are people who are "fast metabolizers" and "slow metabolizers" because of genetic differences in the enzymes in your liver that break down most drugs. Maybe you're a fast metabolizers. If this was the case, your drug blood/urine levels of methadone would always have been low. If they used to be normal and now they're non-existent - I don't know, it's wierd.
