I just can't help to ponder how this situation is going to effect those of us on narcotic pain medications. Watching freako Deepak Chopra taking credit on national television for refusing to script some oxycontin for Jackson said it all.
Michael Jackson might very well have needed strong painkillers. But the "do-gooders" who live "pain-free" lives taking boxloads of vitamins and practicing yoga in their million-dollar mansions are nothing but hypocrites. And, control freaks. Jackson was arguably one of the great entertainers of the past four decades. But, the backstory now is focusing on his "drug abuse." FOX news, champion of the fair and balanced, ultra-conservative reporting/entertainment "viewpoint" is already building a sound, anti-narcotic prescription foundation. I foresee them looking ("outing") or watching many personalities on painkillers. My point - simply - is how this effects those of us who use these strong meds (I'm on vicodin 4x daily 10/500); this is a "lifesaver" for me. Someone else on such doseage might be deadly or at least life-threating. We are all different!! God bless Mr. Jackson - he'll be missed. Unfortunately, the "back-story" will be the "doctors" who allegedly fed him meds. Thus, making all doctors take a second-look at their pain med management. Or worse - such as constructing some sort of “watch list” of doctors, PA’s and patients. Thus, allowing many of us to continue suffering under-medicated. Posted on 06/28/09, 01:06 am |

IN the case of MJ the drug that probably killed him and wasfound in his home was Propofol/Diprivan. That medication is mostly used by anesthesiologist to get you to relax before surgery, the famous "happy juice" that they add to your IV (or it could be Versed), before you go into the operating room.
The Doctor or pharmacy (or both) that was giving/prescribing this medication to MJ are in soooooo much trouble!!! This is an injectable medication, it should never be given to a patient to administer at home! So that is all I have to say about that....

When you have an operation or certain procedure such as a colonoscopy, they will inject this white liquid to put you under. Especially when they have to tube you (ventilate), you get the stuff first.
It is anesthetic. It puts you into a drug induced coma. Michael Jackson has been playing with fire for years and his od was a foreseeable tragedy. Michael was a narcissist and a very demanding person. He was also very disturbed. Whatever he wanted he pretty much got. That is what turned him into the freaky looking person he became through plastic surgery. And that is what killed him in the end. The drs played a huge role in giving MJ what he wanted, and they helped him towards his death.

Every time that I've had surgery (20 and counting) in my life, the anesthesiologist has come in to my gurney right before I am taken into the OR and has gvien me some "happy juice" weather is Versed or Diprivan, I don't know, but it is actually great for the patient, who wants to walk into the OR and see all of the instruments the machines, etc. YIKES!!! Specially when is a spinal surgery...... I thank God that I live were I live! And misnutzy, you hit it on the nail with your comment about MJ! There is going to be a lot of Doc's and pharmacist in trouble after this investigation is over!

i feel so sad about micheal jackson, i loved the way he danced, and that night he first did the moon dance, it was magic. i don't know, i think he pushed his body to unbeleiveable limits, then the molestation trails pushed him over the edge. he was aquited, what i don't get is, if he was guilty, how did he get aquited, some times, i think maybe people wanted money from him. it is all so sad, i remember when he was five, and he sang ,it was so great..oh well. thats me, i will miss him. i thought he was a health nut. lol

I hate to see this conversation here. Without saying to much. I hold no sympathy for child molestors. A wealthy man being found "not guilty" in a court of law means absolutely nothing. (remember OJ?) It was his GUILT that ate MJ alive and cuased his life to go into a downward spiral.

Michael Jackson was my childhood hero. I've always dreamt of meeting him. Yes he had problems, but look at his upbringing! He never had a chance to be a child.
A good point from my mother- he probably thought it was okay to take a shot of Demerol or what ever else. The doctors authorized the administration of such dangerous drugs. He lived in a bubble; whatever he wanted, he got. I love you Michael Jackson and will miss you dearly. Mourning, Gloria

I was thinking the exact same thing! It really bothers me that there is such a frenzy about painkillers, and its almost as if the media really hypes the use of painkillers. I have a hard enough time with judgmental people ( family included), especially pharmacy workers. Just adds to my anxiety.

Well I cannot even stand to watch the news anymore. Tonight they were saying that new laws will be passed because of MJ's death and that they will get much tougher on ANYONE taking pain meds. Truth is, they dont care if we are in pain or not- all they see is a drug addict. They do not live inside my body. They have absolutely no idea until they have to live the pain themselves. I am so sick of being treated like a criminal everytime i go to the pharmacy to get my meds filled. The pharmacists give you that look- you all know the one i am talking about- they are completely ignorant of what it feels like to live in a body that you cannot control- a body that has betrayed you- and I am betting things will get tougher even for truely sick people like us- they are gonna make it so uncomfortable or impossible to get the medication that we need to live. It just makes me even sicker. We will all suffer because of people like MJ who use meds for fun and have no idea of what illness and pain really is. It infuriates me!
