I have been on Vicodin, Percocet, Norco, Celebrex, Oxycodone, Oxycontin for 15 year for my back (degenerative disc disease), and recently herniated 2 discs in my neck (awaiting neurosurgeon appointment and then surgery). I'm having an array of side effects that I'm not sure if they are from coming off Oxycontin (7 days ago) or the new fentanyl patch. Symptoms include: hot/cold sweats, nausea, stomach distress (loose stools for at least 5 days), and if so, when will I feel like a human being again.

Okay,I think I am out of the oxycontin withdrawal finally. Now my issue is that I feel yucky on the 3rd day of my patch. Supposedly the patch should last at least 24 hours beyond the 3rd day (time for the new patch to kick in)... I don't think so. I feel best at about 36 hours, good on day 2, and then start feeling yucky the last 12 hours of the 3rd day. I'm considering taking an oxycontin the morning of day 3 of each cycle. The other problem is I have been on Miralax for months, and it seems to be causing alot more stomach distress now, so I am rotating between constipation to the point of impaction to diarrhea (usually commencing on day 3). Any suggestions for handling the constipation? I'm getting where I don't want to eat, because if I eat anything substantial, especially meat, then my stomach is all messed up. thank you to all of you who have responded to me... you have all been a lifesaver.

My PM Doc told me that the patch looses most of the medication by the 55 hour mark, that is why when I used them in the past, he had me changing them every 48 hours instead of 72. BTW, there is also a really good support group online for people in chronic pain. The site is; chronicpainsite.com, if you want to check it out. I also belong to that one and I love both.

i want to go to every 48 hours of the patch, 100mg, but my doc says no, it last for three days, i wish i could talk to her, cause the last day is too difficult, and now that they are cutting me off all pain meds, except percocet, which i guess they are banning? i will need a higher dose of the patch, like 125, i am so confused, life was easier when i was twenty. omg, what happen to me.
