Possible recall on Darvon and Darvocet

Hi all I just found out about the recall. I thought I would let everyone know. The reason why is because of possible overdose due to the fact they are weak pain relievers and little or no additional pain relief. I was on Darvocet and still in pain in fact I stopped taking in a day before I found out about it. Then it all made sense. I hope this will help someone.

" Darvocet sucks! My Rheumy just gave it to me and I probably OD'd trying to get relief... thank God it didn't kill me... I took 3 and it did nothing whatsoever!
Thanks for letting me know... I have an appt. with her on the 15th and I had already decided not to refill that stupid script. "

" This is like banning cars because people die if they don't fallow the speed limit. Darvocet is safe if taken as directed. Driving is safe if you fallow the rules of the road. Yes it is mild, but it does help some people, and it makes more scense to me to start on a mild pain reliever and move up the scale according to pain level and cause. Tho it didn't help me with my pain, I also wouldn't have wanted to start on what I am on now! Not only that, but with this being a mild drug, if this ban passes, the ban on other stronger pain meds will be even easier to pass. It is not the drug killing these people, it is the people taking the drug other than how it is prescribed. Just like guns don't kill people, people do. If they start here they won't stop, then we will see a real jump in suicide! How many of us will be able to live in our pain without our pain medication? The drugs are available with prescriptions for a reason. If our medication is not working, the docs should be able to prescribe something that does, without fear! Has anyoune looked into the reason for these suicides or are they just pointing the finger at the drug they took to end their misery? "

" I think a lot of good people in pain make some not so smart decisions when in pain, and if the doctors would give us adequate pain relief people would not have to make those dumb decisions. It is crazy that you can go into the doctors with crazy pain and they say lets start you off with this even though you should start off with something stronger and send you on your way for you to deal with it for what 2 weeks a month. Doctors follow some kind of bottom of the bucket pain relief no matter what it actually is. I say don't blame people blame the doctors who don't know how to determine what to give. "
