" So sorry to hear you were hospitalized and glad to you are back home. In response to your questions... I have used the Lidoderm patches in the past and started using them again this week. I have 3 patches on now as a matter of fact. I beleive the patches are to help "numb" or minimize the pain on the area you place the patch. I place patches on for 12 hours, then off for twelve hours. I have not found them to be be very helpful in the past but I had some left and a refill so I thought I'd give them a try again as my pain level is really spiking again. I have severe lower back, rear, leg & foot pain (caused by herniated discs & fail surgeries that left me withca permanently damaged sciatic nerve root=ugh) so I can certainly empathize with you and the pain you must be experiencing. Back to the Lidoderm Patches- I place the patches on my lower back, rear and thigh. Since I am in bed most all of the day and night, they stay fairly well in place but just this am, going to the kitchen to get a glass of water, the patch on my leg fell half way off, then stuck to my pantsLOL so, depending where you place them-some body areas stick better than others.

I have not tried diazapan so can't help there.
I was on gabapentin for about 3 years but unfortunately it did not offer me any relief and my doctor took me off. However, I have read in several posts that this drug is very helpful for many so I'll defer to others to help you their feedback as well.

Wishing you the very best and hope you have much success with your new drug treatment. Will be thinking of you...Take good care "

" Sorry you were in the hospital due to pain! I use the patches. Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't. They seem to work better on my lumbar spine than my cervical spine. My surgeon gave me valium to get through my MRIs (very chlostraphobic!) but xanax works better for me for anxiety. I know it's supposed to be a muscle relaxer too, but no relief there either. I know people who take gabapentin and find it helps, but it didn't work for me and I had awful side effects! I hope they find what works for you so you don't have such high pain levels! Hugs! "

" I have being on gabapention for 9 years now.
If i wasnt on it i would be in bed and couldnt do all the things i can now while the painkillers help.
Have a look on the net.
Some drugs work for one person and they wont work for another.
But theirs no harm in trying lol. "

" I havent tried either of those drugs but my husband uses the lidocane patch along with an anti inflammatory patch. THey work good for him. I start my Lyrica tommorrow hopefully it will help. My dr also put me on the fentanyl patch. It works great for me! The pain is down to a 3-4 most times with it. Nights are harder of course but it is nice not to have to take pain pills. I do hope your feeling better "

" I'm glad your feeling better. I use the patches on my knees, they get swollen due to the massive weight gain I have had. I do get wonderful relief from them. The gabapentin works great for nerve pain relief. It was originally used for epilepsy, it works on the central nerve system, I believe. The last one, diazepam works like Valium, it helps calm the patient down, allowing the pain medication to do its job quicker and better. I hope that helps. I do hope you don't have to be bed ridden again. I know how awful it can be. Hugs, Dar "
