Discussion:
Cherry Juice for pain/anyone tried it?

A lady I know suggested using cherry juice as a sleep aid, she said it helps her immensely.
I wasn't so sure about that and googled it and found this link to Dr.Oz and was surprised to see it can help with pain as well as sleep.

I'm just wondering if any of you have ever heard of this or tried it and what, if any benefit you got if you did try it??

I did check this site for virus/malware and it came out "clean" with my
anti-virus program....

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

" Cherries with tumeric are very good for inflamation. It only reduses pain when it is caused by inflamation (sorry can spell inflamation - wonder if DS will ever move into the 21st century with spell checkers).

This is the problem with non-medical people giving us advice. What works for one person is because of their particular isses. It does not always translate to CP.
Many people also have psychatric issues and it could be a placebo effect.

Of course, medicine is not a perfect art. It can't hurt to try.

This is why we need to really research these things. "

" SunnyBunn...I wasn't trying to give out any advice....I was merely asking if anyone here had ever heard of this.....I'm not one to just jump on a bandwagon seeking a "magic bullet" and would never give any advice aside from suggesting talking to one's dr. or if needed, find another dr.
Anything else would always be predicated on just my own experience
and not intended to tell anyone what they should or should not do.
I'm sorry I was misunderstood....

" Sorry, I did not mean to sound harsh or anything. I don't know what your issues are so not sure if this will he3lp at all.

Perhaps some of the exhaustion of my own situation with every single person I meet giving some sort of advice came thru my words. Please forgive my own issues. "

" No problem SunnyBunn....I'll refrain from asking things like this in the future....there's been too much drama here already without my adding to it.
I've grown quite weary of people giving me "advice" on what will or will not help manage this neverending pain my own self so I do understand what you say.

Take gentle care and I hope you have a low pain day. "

" tart cherry is the variety that has the anti-inflammatory property. it's a distinction that should be noted.

like a lot of really great anti-oxidants, anti-inflammation foods and herbs the amount needed to gain benefit doesn't fit into most of our diets.

there are several brands in most health food stores containing tart cherry extract or concentrated formulations. in this case i find pills to be very effective. my mother had an arthritic spur in her wrist that was becoming ping-pong ball sized. two weeks of taking a well know brand's formula by pill completely eliminated the growth and inflammation for over the last 5 months she's been off of it.

i tried it myself and was once again reminded that my problems don't stem from inflammation sooo..it did not work for me.

i've seen it work though and i would recommended it to anyone with and inflammatory health concern, including a injury related back condition.

as with all herbal supplements, the typical rule is two weeks on and then two weeks off unless you find the medicine to be a life saver.

and hey- it's worth trying anything at least once or twice.

good luck "

" if you hadn't asked the question here.... how were you going to get an answer? most of us have tried a million things. i'd say we're among the best pool of possible information regarding this subject matter that you could come across.

bun didn't mean you any malice. there's no drama. questions like this are obligatory and certainly not something that you should avoid.
i would have never have found out about the magic of peppermint tea if it weren't for a laxative comparison post right here. don't censor yourself. no one is calling for that at all. "

" Thanks everyone...brokenyolk, thanks for letting me know where to find it...had looked in the supermarkets and no such thing was available, only "cherry flavored" mixes.
I'm going to check at our local GNC to see if they have what you described.
I have numerous spurs in my spine as well as inflammation all over the place, or so it seems at times....I'm going to give it a try and see how it works....I can't get any "behinder" than I already am:)

Thank you all for your kind support:):) "

" a whole foods, sprouts or similar market would have it. increasingly, walmart shelves are filling up with supplements i wouldn't expect to see there.

it is the anthocyanins in tart cherry and other dark fruits that are believed to help inflammation. with our anti-flam choices being A. tear up yer guts. B. tear up your guts slower and C. compromise your whole immune system..

searching for a different source of pain reduction for inflammation seems like a damn good idea to me!!

and, as sunny said, it can't hurt. "
