I was diagnosed with endometriosis last July after laparoscopic surgery. Since then I've continued to be in excruciating pain. My doctor only left me with one other option...another sugery. He gave me tramadol for the pain but I reacted really bad to it and when I notified him he told me to just take tylenol....yeah right! So two weeks ago I went to my family doctor desperate for some other way to alleviate the pain and she put my oxycodone..well 28 pills of it. It was absolutely wonderful..there was almost no pain at all, I could do almost everything again..including standing in the kitchen for two hours to make homemade meatballs. Well that all ended because the pills ran out and she said to just go back to my family doctor and have surgery again. WTF?! I dont' know why doctors insist that I waste my life away sitting in the house in pain all day. Is anyone else in the same position or do you know of any doctors that support using pain medicine. I had never taken narcotic pain killers until just now and I don't understand why doctors don't consider putting more women with endometriosis on them.

" I think that the best thing that you could do is try to find a good Pain management Doctor in your area to start treating your pain. I have a wonderful PM Doc, and he was my salvation.
It sometimes takes a while to find a good one, but once you've found the one, you will be happy as pie!

Check the American Pain Foundation website and see if they have any Doctor's that they will recommend in your area. Good luck to you. "

" Doctors these days are getting afraid of losing their lisence over people becoming addicted to the pain meds they prescribe. Thank Goodness my PM doctor has never mentioned a narcotic contract ot has not been afraid to give me anything as long as it works.
In your case alot of doctors especailly regular doctors don't seem to think that endo causes alot of pain. I had to end up getting a hyserectomy when I was 32. In some ways it was heaven sent but you are so young and I already had my daughter.
I do not know if a Pain Management doctor would see someone with endo for the pain. It might be worth checking into. That is what they specialize in is just dealing with peoples pain. Wouldn't hurt to try :) I wish you much luck and will keep you in my prayers. "

" Thank you so much for all your advice. I was referred to a specialist in Rochester, it's the womens Pelvic and Pain Clinic. I'm really hoping that he can help me manage the pain until my fiance and I can finacially afford a vasectomy reversal. I was told that if I want children I need to to have them now...and get pregnant asap. It's alot of pressure but you never realize how much you want something until someone tells you that you can't have it. "

" Kate, I have been through the most horrific pelvic pain due to endometriosis, pelvic congestion syndrome, pcos, IC, and pelvic floor spasms. My suggestion is that you go see a pelvic pain specialist. Women with really bad endo do have to have surgery fairly regularly to remove the endometrial cells that grow and can spread to your bladder, bowels, and stomach. That can be the cause of your pain and if you have back pain, that is as well. Check out pelvicpain.org for a list of specialists in this area. I lived in pain for several years and couldn't go to work, school, or anywhere else. Then I was fortunate enough to see the doctor that founded the International Pelvic Pain Society. He saved my life. You need to have someone due a pelvic venogram to see if pelvic congestion could actually be the source of your pain. Ob?Gyns do not like to give narcotic pain killers to their patients so you have to find one that specializes in treating pelvic pain rather than a doc that is just another doc in a baby factory. Those practices always frustrated me so much because if you weren't pregnant, they had no idea what to do with you. If you can't find one that specializes in pelvic pain, then look for one that specializes in abnormal bleeding. They are more likely to give you pain meds to ease the pain while they find a more permanent solution. Send me a message if you have any questions. I think I can be a great help in this situation because i have 13 years of experience fighting with my doctors over these problems. I just had surgery in March after bleeding for 71 days straight and passing out from the blood loss. Believe me, I've been there, done that. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. "
