" Hey Callum, I am so sorry to hear this about your mom. it is unforgivable let alone should be illegal for this doc to do that. In the U.S. most of us have contracts that state if the doc no longer wants to treat us, he must give us 30 days of meds. Which means we have 30 days to find a new PM. Although there is no law that states they must do it.

With a pain pump I can't even imagine the doc doing that. It's not like your mom could just go to the pharmacy and get meds, at least not here. She would have to go to the docs office and they fill the pumps with the meds.

I'd say sue the docs. Couldn't one of the docs in the hospital get your mom morphine? What are they doing for her now as far as pain meds? With her signing out against medical advice, it makes it more difficult.

I wish I could tell you to do something that would make it better. Over here allwe could tell you was your mom needs to find a new pain doc. Normally someone close to where they live can gice them names of docs but you need someone from England.

Please try and keep your mom in the hospital until she is well and talk with the main doc ahead of her care about getting her something for pain.

Take care and keep us updated

" Callum,
From what you said, and from your Mom stopping the Morphine abruptly, it takes about 3-5 days before one would begin to go int withdrawls. Hasn't anyone said anythin about this at all?

I am a nurse, also a Chemical Dependncy Specialist. I cn't fathom that the don't know that'a wht is going on. Did they give her any Morphine, or another pain medicaion. If not she will be of physically as soon as she finishes the withdrawls. She has been on it for what looks like a very lon time, and it is a heavy narcotic. Also a very difficult one to detox off. I only hope they are giving her detox protocol/ We always give them somethin for anxiety, something to prevent seizures, something for sleep. One can't force a person to take anything, I do aree that the doctor fif a crppy thing, and in 35 years I have stories that would make you never want to ee a doctor again.
We havebecome a number, and a $ sing to so many of them.
I don't care if you do live in England. I would contact a Patients Riht Advocate, and get them involved in this. Also a Social worker too. How can the courts ge invloved, and make her stay? I know here in the US, no one can make a patient stay in the hopial, unless they are a daner to themselves or others. Being that she has to have dialysis, well is she refusin to go and et it when she needs it? I still don't see where the courts have any business with her case.

Please keep me informed as to what is going on with you , and your mom. Also get a good laywer. He did abandond his patient!!!
