How to function on pain meds at work

My doctor recently increased my pain meds to Percocet. It is helping my pain and I am grateful for that. However, I am not able to function on it. I am drowsy, can't focus, light headed, have blurry vision, and just can't keep my eyes open. I have been going to work and drawing the attention of others around me. I work on the phone all day and have found myself falling asleep while talking to people. I woke up to one lady on the phone saying "I think she's snoring." Another time, I dropped my pen and that woke me up. But mostly I can't read my computer screen and people have to tell me three times why they called. How do you all function on these pain meds?

Yes the "loopy" behavior and the euphoria diminis after time. I do know what you are saying tho. Would it be possible for you to maybe just work part time ? I do have to laugh at your post tho sweetie, because I think the bigger question for me would be "how to function without meds". You will get used to the meds tho and drind coffee. Most of all do NOT drive on the meds until the loopy goes away. Hey remember that song "hang on sloopy ?? Well I will just say "hang on loopy" hugs, Debuh oh giving my age away. That song was a hit when I was in high school !! Good song tho. Hugs, Deb

I didn't sleep this whole night. I've had problems falling asleep at work. The directors were assholes about it. I was falling asleep because I wasn't taking pain medication. So embarrassing; I've fallen alseep during trainings, while people are talking to me, in staff meetings. And I became the office pariah. I finally got a doctor who prescribed me Ultracet and what a difference! But they do make me a little drowsy. I get up and go outside or try to move around or hide in the bathroom for a five minute nap. I can't have caffeine. There were doubts that I could even handle the job. I may get an outside agency involved. They have no right to treat me like shit because of my physical problems.
Falling asleep now, Gloria
