Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) Support Group

Hi, I have only had the sticky eyes as far as that goes. But after 13 months on 400 Gleevec (300 the last month) I am noticing the more brittle hair and nails. Also, my skin is thinner and doesn't heal quickly if I get a cut. I see Dr. Druker next week and will ask him about it.

What I have done, is to make sure I get flax oil or fish oil in my diet and drink a lot of water. Exercise helps with all of this too, but not so easy to do all the time. And, I am working with a Naturopath to safely detox - it's helping and with consultation with Dr. Druker.

When I think back to a year ago, I did have a lot of symptoms as my body purged out the white cell sledge and my bone marrow started to heal. Maybe that has something to do with it. Best to You!

I have had the thinner skin and brittle nails now. So far no teeth problems and I hope I never do I love my teeth. I just chalk up all of these side effects and laugh because each time I get another I am like wow another one and I think how this medicine is saving our lives but yet causing soooo many other problems in our lives. Hopefully our bodies can handle these side effects without causing severe problems.

I do have dry skin (actual patches of dry skin) and brittle nails. Also, since starting Gleevec I have been diagnosed with Dry Eye Syndrome (teary eyes); I use GenTeal Gel Drops once a day ... have helped tremendously. Take care!
