How often does your doctor perform the Fish and BCR-ABL bloodwork? I ask because I had a 2nd opinion and the doctor suggested these be done every 3 months.

CML expert doctors recommend every 3 months but if the patient has been stable in a major molecular remission (a 3-log PCR reduction), doctors can recommend every 6 months between a PCR test. Does your doctor do the FISH test and the PCR test?

Yes, Anjana, I have had the tests done; however, the 2nd opinion doc recommended every 3 months like you said. I will discuss this with my oncologist when I see her early December.
I gained a lot of good info from the 2nd opinion doc ... it is unfortunate that he is located so far from where I live. In addition to working full-time, I am a caregiver for my mentally ill sister. Marie
