Hi everybody!
I found this forum, to my great relief! My mum is 55, and was diagnosed with CLL (stage 0) about a year ago. She's watchful waiting. My sister and I dealt with it the best we could, and after an initial 6 months of shock and depression, my mum finally emerged feeing better. I am still feeling down and fearful, and trying to seek as much information and assurance as I can. Posted on 09/13/09, 07:09 pm |

Hi smartielia,
Once you wrap your mind around this disease you will not fear it quite as much. Some live 20 years or longer with CLL.I am so glad your mum is feeling better now.You are a caring daughter to seek to learn all you can about CLL so you will be more informed to better help your mum. Anytime you need to talk just let me know.I have had CLL 5 years now and after numerous treatments I'm in a pretty good remission. My immune system is shot though and I have to get IVIG treatments once a month. It takes blood from 16,000 healthy people to make one treatment at a cost of $10,000 a month. Will have to take it until I die. I pray your mum continues on watch and wait for a very long time! HUGS, Deb

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I feel really low from time to time, but then I think that it's not that bad, I still have my mom and she's able to enjoy life, still. I always try to be positive around her, and encourage her to live life to the full! Wishing you all the best, and hope for good news from research! Love, Lia

Hi Smartielia
I had to respond, I have had CLL for 19 years and only know am starting to have issues with my health. For your mum, tell her to keep being positive and enjoy each day and that way you can focus for the future. Do the things that you want to do. My daughter and I went to Europe for 8 weeks and we had a wonderful time to celebrate life and living, as we thought I would have 3 years then (back in 1997) still here and travelled the world and had a ball. Hugs J
