I just found out last week that I have CLL. I am symptom free but that still doesn't make me feel all that good. I have kept this news from everyone but my wife. I figure why burden others with an issue that may not become a problem for sometime. Any thoughts or suggestions?

" I'm glad you told your wife. Why? Because she will be involved with this dragon. Of course, you must know something about this disease
and I would suggest www.clltopics.org.com for a start. also cllforum.com and cllchristian friends.com Depending on your markers and how you feel, you may be on w&w for years. There was a woman who died of CLL at the age of 106. Never had treatment. She could have lived another year or two if she didn't have CLL. Another extreme case, I heard of this guy who was youngish, in good health and went to the doctor for a check-up and was hospitalized the next day and had to start treatment immediately. So welcome to the world of wait, watch, wonder and worry. Another suggestion, get a consultation with a CLL expert.. Lay back and just get on with your life. Also, always get c copy of your labs and keep them in a file. Keep well. "

" When we found out about my husbands CLL 3 years ago, we told our church community, they were wonderful and the love, prayers and support was amazing, you need all that. My husband and men in general I think want to be strong and do things on their own. It can be a long, hard road and I think the help helps. "

" Welcome Kize.Sorry you have CLL but glad you are not having problems with it.Just enjoy every minute you have here.It is your choice who you tell and when but sometimes it helps to talk to others and get it out of your system!
I would also get a second opinion from a CLL expert if you can.Take a tape recorder with you cause it is easy to forget what all they tell you.
Take Care,
Deb

" June 30th was your day ... mine? Exactly 7 days later. My platelets were 2000 but I had zero symptons. I've had lots of treatment since then including four days in the hospital. Scared? Sure. But positive? Absolutely. Attitude has a heck of a lot to do with EVERYTHING. I'm in remission now but realize that CLL is not curable, only treatable. My third and hopefully final chemo treatment for a long time is next week ... for good measure, I guess. Then, God will hopefully bless me with a long remission. Stay positive ... and I'll do the same. "
