I have had a cold for over 4 weeks, i know it takes a long time to get over these things when you have CFS but this is ridiculous. I am wondering if its something else? Any ideas?

" could be allergies or infection. I have asthma so I can't let these things go or I end up with an Infection in my lungs.

Maybe you should see a doctor.

Sending Hugs and Prayers that you feel better soon. "

" If it's just a cold is will resolve itself!! Buy with the H1N1 running rampant and it being flu season and all...I'd get it checked out by my doctor, my friend.

Antibiotics may be in order....better safe than sorry. Don't want anything to get out of hand...we have enough to deal with already, right???

Feel better! "

" I'm into gargling with warm salt water 2x a day and my Neti pot.

Drink LOTS of warm fluids to push the virus into your stomach where the acid will eat it up! "

" Four weeks is definitely too long to for a virus, which typically last 7 - 14 days.

If you have a productive cough or congestion and a fever, you might have a bacterial infection such as pneumonia or bronchitis. You would need an antibiotic from your doctor and it's better to get that treated sooner than later.

If you have just a runny nose, sneeze, dry itchy through, that sounds more like allergies. An over the counter antihistamine like claritin would resolve most of those symptoms. "

" After I got CFS, the common cold always took longer to go away than when I was healthy. Sometimes as long as 6 weeks.

That's one part of the reason I began to seclude, because I didn't want to be sicker than I already was.

If you're not allergic or sensitive to fresh ginger root and decaf green tea, I recommend it. "

" I think because of all the supplements I take, my immune system is in pretty good shape but I usually get the flu or colds - but not full force - just enough to make me feel extra miserable. And it lasts two or three times longer than anyone else in the home who gets the same thing.

Before I started taking all the supplements, I got 5 week colds regularly - like, I was probably sick more than not sick for a few years. "
