I am currently waiting for an appointment at a specialist chronic fatigue unit (been waiting long time!). Has anyone else been treated by such a unit or had CBT? I'd be interested in how you found it.

Thanks

" I get CBT but it does not "cure" CFS nor does my psychologist think it will. Rather it helps me 'manage' ... and it does! "

" What is meant by 'managing'? Is it coping, or is it helping you to build energy and so recover? "

" CBT is helping you to learn to live with and manage your condition, it's very unlikely they'll be a huge physical difference, but your attitude towards it mentally can change how you feel a little. I've not actually had CBT, but I know people who have, it tends to be most useful to those who are new to the illness, or even to the diagnosis, and can help you get to grips with the changes in your life that ME brings.

I see specialists from an enablement team, they work with people with MS, head injuries, stroke, ME, and my OT helps me monitor my activity and pace as well as I can, many centres offer "educational" groups, but I've not been well enough to attend any yet, so I see my OT one to one instead.

Hope they're able to offer you something helpful! x "
