I am so angry I could just explode. I called 3 of my Doctors today trying to get something for my herniated disc pain. The surgeon told me to have another injection. Why would I do this again when the first one didn't work. He told me take the tramadol which does nothing but make me sick in the stomach and give me a headache that will not go away. Then I called my Gp he is away on vacation and he told me to call the surgeon again. He is uncomfortable prescribing pain meds while he is away. Then I called the pain management Dr. that I have been trying to get in with. They told me 2 weeks ago that they are going to get my xrays and mri results and set me up with an appointment at the end of January (the first appt avail). So I called them and they are still getting my stuff together and now I have to wait till mid February. I am so angry and am sitting here in tears with the sciatic pain that i going down my legs. I am going to look on line for a place to buy meds with out a prescription. I know that people say its not wise to do but the health profession forces us to do stuff like this because all they care about is getting the big bucks. I am sorry for ranting on but I am so frustrated and in so much pain that I will do almost anything to get relief. Any and all advice is welcome.

" I am so sorry to hear of your pain and frustration. I Don't know how to move your post other than to copy and paste it where you want and try to delete from here, but it wasn't hard to fallow your lead and find it. Anyway, I have found the pain meds don't work all that great for sciatic anyway, so when mine is real bad I try to stretch the area where I know it is being pinched. One thing that works is to lay on my side and plant my hip into the mattress and pull my torso away with my elbow, kinda like crawling away from my hip. I have just recently been having my boyfriend pull on my feet while I am laying down. I lay on the good side, he stands at the foot of the bed and just puts even steady pull from my ankle for a good 5-10 min. Both these open up the space where the nerve is being pinched off. Especially good on a day when I can feel that bone on bone and nothing helps. It really does give me relief so I can fall asleep. I am considering an inversion table. My doc told me if that nerve is pinched long enough the damage can become permanent, so I don't want to just take pills, I want to open that space as much as I can without having to do surgery. It is worth a try. Hope you find some relief soon. Hugs to you, :) Julie "

" Hi, I too followed your lead and found your post here. I am sorry for your pain and can hear the frustration in your writing- I've been there:( Julie has offered some physical exercises that may help but my suggestion is to go to the ER in the meantime, they have an obligation to treat your pain until you see the doctor- tell them that you have an appointment but are in so much pain that you can't tolerate it in the meantime. Don't jeopardize further treatment by buying over the internet as many doctors will do background checks. Most likely they will have to find out why and what is causing the pain and go from there, I wish you all the best and will pray that you get some relief soon xoxoLyn "

" I've looked on some very bad days, most of those require a prescription too. "

" I'd suggest the er and excercise. My scaitic nerve got better one day in a swimming pool. Hurt like hell, the lower half of my body went into spasm, them poof, after years, it was better. I still have to watch it, take it easy when it gets inflamed or I feel pressure, but that is some horrible pain when it happens.I feel for you. "

" i found you. Gee i would be caustious buying meds on line...you could get nothing for your money or worse, I hear some of those sites are scams to get your credit card number. I don't know what to tell you , when i'm desperate i go to the ER. I've lost 3 disc (T7,8,9)from a tumor and i have a fuzed spine. I can feel your desperation I've been there. .i hear there's a new non invasive lazer proceedure that is helping. My uncle had it for a similar problem as yours and is doing well. Hold on is all i know to tell you.ALSO don't use credit card.maybe paypal? or a prepaid credit card? "

" I'm sorry you're hurting and that your Doc's are not being very compassionate. I agree your choices are limited, so you are between a rock and a hard place.
I have found that when my sciatic is acting up a combo of Motrin and one of my muscle relaxer's usually baclofen and then squatting. Sounds silly I know but I have found that if I get into a deep squat it opens up my lumbar area and takes that pressure off the nerve.
Do you have someone who could help get your records over to the pain place for you, then they would no longer have that for an excuse to not get you.
Again I am so sorry. "

" i am SO SORRY that you are in this much pain, and even SORRIER that your doctor has turned out to be no help when you need him (your GP - i would honestly consider replacing him, unless he is wonderful in every other way ... with pain like yours, you need to know that you can COUNT on your doctor when you need help).

what kind of injection are you talking about? i ask because i have spinal epidurals, and the first one was AWFUL! i'd been warned about this, though, , and was second was no picnic, either. but the THIRD, oh the third: amazing! i'm not sure if this is a similar situation or not, but i thought i'd throw that in there.

the thing that frightens me with the online prescription drugs is that if you order from the wrong place, even though you were looking for pain relief, if you get busted, you could ruin your chances of getting any further pain relief. THAT would be even WORSE than this!

i wish you the best of luck, and i certainly don't mean to come across as a downer ... just trying to think out loud, hopefully something helpful comes out of it. feel better!

xoxo, misa "

" OH, I have been where you are now. My suggestion is to call the doctor's office back and tell them that you are in so much pain that you are going to buy stuff off the Internet. Ask who you are talking with and make a note for further ref. Be persistant too, they hate dealing with patients like that! The exercises help alittle bit, but I have found that the Lyrica cuts the pain totally. It might be in question with side affects but when you are in pain you want something that will work. I was taking 75mgs 2x day for sciatic pain (prior to my back surgery.) The hydrocodone helps too, if the RX is strong enough. As for stretching, etc., have someone stand with their heel into the sciatic area and gently or firmly rub it. That seemed to help me more than exercises. Heat helps a bit too! ER would be a last resource bc they are so packed right now. You would probably have a 4-6hr wait. But, they can give you pain medication. I have been considering an inversion table also! There are some good buys on them right now. I will keep you in my prayers. Keep your chin up; being stressed doesn't help at all - it makes it much worse. Hugs Sandy "
