  • Good News!!!

    Friday, May 2, 2008 | A Positive story

Well, when I got to work on Wednesday I was pretty anxious about my test results. I called my hematologist/oncologist, whom immediately came over to talk to me...I showed him my test results & he told me I have nothing to worry about! Phew...that is great!  There is no disease or condition characterized by an elevated Protein C Activity (not the same as C Reactive Protein).  Then to...

    Thursday, October 16, 2008 | A Positive story

I had an appointment with my oncologist today. I really like him! This is the second time I have saw him, and he is very down to earth. Anyway, the visit went well and he thinks that in 3-4 months my white count should be down. When that happens my mutated chromosones should switch and I should be good for the next decade. I was so relieved to hear him say that! I started to cry a little. I have ...

    Saturday, November 15, 2008 | A Positive story

Okay so I went to the oncologist on Thursday for my one month check up since starting the chemo meds. I had a generic blood test done, and he called me on Friday to tell me that my counts were normal. NORMAL! After only three weeks! I am in shock. I totally didn't expect him to tell me that. He had said it could take 3-6 months for that to happen. He was just as suprised as me! I am so happy ...

  • My most recent update

    Saturday, March 21, 2009 | A Positive story

This is an update on my doctor visit this past Thursday.  Well, after being on Gleevec for four months, all my counts are good and the doctor is very pleased with my response to the Gleevec. My platelets are a little low, but he isn't concerned about that, as he believes the counts will now start to go up because from the other numbers, it seems like the bone marrow is now...

  • One week on Sprycel

    Monday, August 31, 2009 | A Positive story

Helo, this is Maria, I started Sprycel (Desatinib) last week, and to my surprise I only have minor side effects.
I prayed before I took it, and have many people supporting me with prayers and encouragement.
I had bad times the last three weeks. First the Gleevec wasn't working for me.
Dr. Hampshire said if I didn't decide to change to Sprycel I was in threat of a blast.
I felt very weak, all ...

    Tuesday, September 22, 2009 | A Positive story

I know my last post was pretty much full of complaining so now I feel it necessary to beat the irritableness out of myself & post something positive ~
At 5AM I woke to a wiggling & grunting baby (her way of telling me it is time to wake up & perform my motherly duties of diapering & nursing). After I changed her I placed on the boppy & nuzzled her up to my breast. As I looked d...
