Well, when I got to work on Wednesday I was pretty anxious about my test results. I called my hematologist/oncologist, whom immediately came over to talk to me...I showed him my test results & he told me I have nothing to worry about! Phew...that is great! After weeks of worrying i was in the blastic phase I got word yesterday that i am in the chronic phase. I am happy with this and my doc reduced my gleevec from 800mg to 400mg. I am now looking forward to getting back to work as i have been on leave since the end of April. I am just glad that now all my supporters my gf and my fam can all relax a bit. I had an appointment with my oncologist today. I really like him! This is the second time I have saw him, and he is very down to earth. Anyway, the visit went well and he thinks that in 3-4 months my white count should be down. When that happens my mutated chromosones should switch and I should be good for the next decade. Okay so I went to the oncologist on Thursday for my one month check up since starting the chemo meds. I had a generic blood test done, and he called me on Friday to tell me that my counts were normal. NORMAL! After only three weeks! I am in shock. I totally didn't expect him to tell me that. This is an update on my doctor visit this past Thursday. Well, after being on Gleevec for four months, all my counts are good and the doctor is very pleased with my response to the Gleevec. Helo, this is Maria, I started Sprycel (Desatinib) last week, and to my surprise I only have minor side effects.
I prayed before I took it, and have many people supporting me with prayers and encouragement.
I had bad times the last three weeks. First the Gleevec wasn't working for me.
