I had my surgery on Feb 12, 07, and am doing quite well. I was able to have the closed, or less invasive type of surgery, so I only have 4 small incisions on the right side of my abdomen. There really has been minimal pain. I just have to watch that none of my kitties jumps down onto my lap unknowningly (OUCH!!!) The only problem that I've encountered is diarrhea. The doctor says that it may be the result of the surgery, or I may have picked up a "bug" somewhere, but it's quite severe. Taking Immodium helps. Because of the stomach upset, I'm not yet able to tell how foods will affect me yet. Hopefully all will be back to normal soon.

Just had surgery yesterday at 7:30 am. Piece of cake till I started throwing up at 1pm. I threw up about five other times until 8:30pm, which is when my stupid pharmacy finally filled my prescription for nausea. Now I can hold down my pain meds, eat, and drink without any problems.

Just another update. The recovery is easy. My incisional pain is more tolerable each day. I should be back to work in one week. Good luck to anyone having surgery.

I had my surgery about three years ago and did not have a choice because my gallbladder was diseased. Since my surgery I have slowly gone downhill with me health. I cannot digest fats which is the reason for the loose stools many people have after having the surgery and because of this feel constantly bloated and need to take cholestid a bile binding medication otherwise I could not leave my house due to my constant loose stools. I feel cheated and if they preformed gallbladder transplants I would be the first one in line.

I'm due to see the doctor 12/22 about having some more test done and setting a possible date for the surgery. I'm a bit nervous about it all. I have a lot of gas and if I eat fat have the glorious task of vomiting 3 to 4 hours upon waking. That's the odd thing with my disorder as long as I stay awake I get grossly ill but do not throw up. If I go to sleep I'm jarred awake and have to run to the bathroom to throwup. Afterwards I'm physically drained for about 2 or 3 days. I've changed my diet since my diagnosis and it helps tremendously. I've only had one bad episode since then because I ventured into putting butter on my cressant. I'll be posting again so wish me luck.

How did you get on over Christmas, I too am waiting for an op which keeps getting delayed and I found everyone eating and drinking all over the festive period so difficult. Have now lost loads of weight as am scared to eat anything with fat in and am constantly tired all of the time. Hope you are doing better than me.

After suffering from back pain and nausea daily for six years, going to chiropractors, doctors, physical therapists and even a spine specialist, I was finally correctly diagnosed 2 weeks ago with an inflamed gallbladder full of stones after showing up in the ER with baaaad stomach, pain, right side and shoulder pain. It has been one week since I had my gallbladder removed. The surgeon told me that it was in bad shape and that I also had adhesions (that's when your gallbladder sticks to your other organs). I'm recovering wonderfully,(I had it done laparoscopically) except for some constipation. I did not realize how much pain I have lived with until I don't have it anymore. It's weird to wake up and not be in pain anymore. Sure, I have the normal surgery pain, but not that pain I lived with for six years. If I have any advice for anyone getting ready for surgery,it's this: Eat as healthy as you can before surgery, stretch and do some light yoga if you can, meditate, pray and practice deep breathing. After surgery, get moving as soon as you can (if your doc allows) and take gentle, long inhalations. The CO2 they pump in you for lap surgery causes some significant discomfort and some pain The best way to get rid of it is to walk and breath....you may waddle at first and not WANT to walk, but it helped tremendously with helping my body to absorb the CO2. Deep, gentle, slow breathing helped a lot too!
