Children Of Divorced Parents Support Group

My parents have been divorced for 21 years and we had a party this past weekend and my parents were together just thought I would share my story on this site. Was kinda weird.

Wow, had a great weekend if you remember it was my daughters 21st birthday, my husband was able to help me get the money to purchase the camera that I so wanted to get for my daughter, she had a great family party. We cooked out hamburgers and hot dogs and her brother and 2 step sisters were there along with nieces and nephews. Then there was my 2 parents. I went to the Nursing Home and brought my mom home so she could be around the family. It was somewhat uncomfortable because all of those young folks just don't know how to handle her. She continued over and over saying how good the food was and after eating her plate she started wanting to pick food from everyone else. She went to the bathroom about every 3 minutes, it was just funny watching her watch everyone and talk loudly to everyone. My dad came in from Church and when he walked in my moms eye lit up like a christmas tree, mind you they've been divorced for 21 years. She got up off of that couch and told daddy to sit down and that she was going to fix him something to eat, she walked over to him while he was sitting at the table and she took her arm and pulled his head into her chest and she kissed him on the top of the head and forehead. She bent down in his face and kept saying is that food good, thats good isn't it. I was sitting across from them and my daddy looked at me like get this woman out of my face. It was really cute, I thought but I am sure it bothered my dad because after 21 years of being divorced I know he hates to see her that way but he is also angry at her for divorcing him 21 years ago. It was kind of an uncomfortable situation and about 20 minutes after watching her deal with daddy I had to get her out of there I could tell it was bothering my dad. She didn't want to leave and I told her I had bought a new car and that I wanted to take her for a ride, then she asked where we were going, I made up another lie, then when we pulled in from of the nursing home I made up another lie, I told her I worked there and I had to go in for a minute, thank goodness she said she needed to use the bathroom so I told her she could come in with me. Then as soon as we walk in her whole environment changes and she remembers being at the nursing home. I walked her around for a bit and then told her I had to leave. She then said I thought I was coming here to get my clothes and go spend the night with you. I reminded her that I had to go to work, she walked around telling everyone bye and that she was going home with me and while she was in a room talking to someone I slipped out for the night . I felt bad but I just had to leave her she wouldn't take no for an answer. I'm sure when I go see her today she won't even remember I left her. It was fun while it lasted.
