Children Of Divorced Parents Support Group

I was in eigth grade...so i think i was 13, almost 14. My little brother was 5 :(

i was 2 years old when my mum left. my brother was about 8 when she left his dad years later.

I was about 10 or 11 which is a very vulnerable age. Within a year of my parents divorce, my father married a woman who hated me and my mom took my little brother and moved to another country. I felt very abandoned and betrayed especially by my father. I reminded my stepmother of my mother and she treated me like "the other woman" always careful to keep my father and I separated. In the years that followed he learned to hate and despise me. He abused me verbally, mentally, physically and emotionally. I watched how my cruel stepmother got her hold on him, which didn't take much because of his insecurity and weak character. My mother would write me letters and come visit often and beg me to come and live with her but I never did. I realize now that I should have because I was so miserable during my teenage years. My stepmother wanted me out of the house and now her wish has been granted. Not only am I out of her house but I am out of his life. The day will come when he will see how much she has hurt him but like most cases, I'm not holding my breath cause its going to be too late. I've been married for 18 years now and last year I severed the relationship with my father because the cruelty has never stopped and its taken me this long to realize that things will never change and I need to get my life back. I have 2 teenage daughters and I am a much better person, wife and mother when I am not around my father. For the sake of myself, my marriage and my kids, I have ordered him out of my life.

well my parents arent divorced yet but have just begun the process. im 15 right now. i might be 16 by the time they have it all settled. my sister is 13. she'll probably be 14 by the time its all over and done with.

It was about 6 months before I turned 16....so no sweet 16 for me....my sister was about 10.

but my dad never lived with my mom as far back as i could remember. so technically they were seperated my whole life

same age as u, hillary. 10 or 11. depends on the time of year it was official.
