Opinions on Emend

I started Chemo 2 weeks ago and suffered nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and diarrhea so bad I was incapable of ging to work for a full week after. I ended up so dehydrated due to being even unable to take in fluids that I had to go into the infusion room twice on Tuesday and Friday to have 3 hours worth of fluids pumped into me.
I am still experiencing mild off and on symptoms even though it is 2 weeks post treatment. All the anti meds that have prescribed have been unable to touch my problems to offer me any relief. My Oncologist tells me that I am one of those "Lucky" people who gets the worse side effects from the Chemo. I have been prescribed a new drug Emend for my next round of Chemo which my Oncologist says should help remarkably. My problem is that when I went to pick it up at the pharmacy I was told the price was $92 after my insurance. I need to know if anyone has tryed this drug and if they feel it is worth the money. If it works and I don';t need to miss any work then it will more then pay for its self. But if it is no better then the last anti-nausea meds I would just be throwing that money away and at this point I can not afford to throw $92 away. I would appreciate any responses or even advice on the medication. Thank you, Penny Posted on 10/03/09, 06:10 pm |
