" Hi HeLen.
Yesiree, steroids wiLL most definiteLy make you not sLeep. And to be quite honest, I ended up having my doc prescribe me sLeeping piLLs. The chemo, though I'm not too sure about others, I know for me makes me very tired to the point when I'm not with vomiting or diarrhea, I do doze off just sitting in the chair. So I suggest asking your doc what they want you to do. Good Luck! "

" Hi Helen,
I too have issues with trying to fall asleep. Chemo days is easy because they give me Benadryl and Zofran in the i.v. so it helps to make you sleepy. It's true what PA said about the steroids. I get Solumedrol and it speeds up your heart rate, making it difficult to sleep. You do get used to it, but at times it's just impossible. I no longer toss and turn trying to sleep, I just get up and do something that will make me fall tired ie: reading or television. One night i rea-rranged the living room but I wouldn't suggest that:-) Try an herbal supplement like Melatonin or ask your Doctor for something.
Good luck
Dixie "
