Halli you remind me of me when I shaved mine off. I was so ready to do it because I couldn't stand the hair all over the place. My sis in law shaved it and my hubby and other sis in law shave their heads with me. It was kind of fun and a memory I will always cherish. I'm glad you had a good friend with you. It's been over seven months now since I shaved my hair off.. the wig has been a huge success.. in that everyone thinks it is my real hair and that it looks great.. which is reassuring.. but I really don't like wearing it.. I am aware of it all the time and wondering what it is doing up there.. brushing it constantly.. and it makes me sweat loads now that it is summer..

I have also lost my eyebrows and my eye lashes.. in fact virtually all body hair has abandoned me.. The eye brows are a pain to draw on and someone recommended buying some temporary tattoo ones which are available from wig suppliers.. but I didn't bother to do that. I've just had a thought to make some sort of template to make them easier to match up.... now why didn't I think of that sooner...

I've finished my chemo and have been told that I will probably to have it again at some point.. Hoping I get to grow my hair back first and that if/when I do need more chemo that it won't be the type that makes me bald.. xxx

My hair is gone too. It's been a rough transition for me, I went from having long hair that I took for granted, to being bald with no eyebrows or lashes. I DO have a wig, although i think I've worn it twice. It's beautiful and everything, but it's just not nearly as comfortable as my scarves and hats. It's nice to have one, but it's normal and understandable (from my experience) to not want to wear it daily.

I just joined this support group today and glad to read your posts about your hair. I just started 2 months ago and I'm starting to notice it on the pillow, my clothes and of course the drain:-) I have long hair too, and I've always had what I thought was a significant amount of hair "everwhere" as my ex used to say, but now it's just rediculous! I have a friend that's about 15 years older than me and lately seems to think she needs to groom me. I knows she's trying to be helpful, but just when I've forgotten that I'm on it and we are out having fun, she makes a point to say I'm shedding and start picking the hair off me, like a mother baboon. I've kidded with her and told her to stop, but she doesn't get it. Has anyone here encountered this issue? I'm I just being over sensative because of the steroids? I know she means well, but I'm ready to break her arm the next time we go out. Maybe I'll just shave it all off! However I was hoping to get away with some hats and head bands for now to show the illusion I still have a full head of hair. At least it makes me feel better even being able to put it in a pony tail for now:-). I know this is so trivial but advise would be appreciated and it was great to vent:-)

This friend of yours, who is being a mother baboon to you, would seem like the right person to get to help you to shave your hair off. I had a hair shaving ceremony and videoed the event.. it felt great.. If you can go back in my journal to 6th January, there are five videos of me shaving my hair.. It was fun and very liberating to do.. better than waiting for it to fall out.. Best of luck to you... Inka

I'm scared to death to do that right now, but when I need to I will for sure. I looked through all your January journals and couldn't find those videos. I'd love to see them if you still have them. And I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, I hadn't been up to being on the computer for a few days or at least not for long, just check emails basically..

i had gotten a wig. but i didn't like it as much. everyone knew it wasen't really my hair. so i thought what is the point of wearing it. so i just stuck to hats and such. i thought it was the most comfortable thing. and then when i lost my eyebrows and eyelashes. i tried to draw them on, but it didn't really work out. i ended up looking like a mad person everytime! i hope everything works out! i am here to talk!

There is a problem accessing the videos in my journal.. not sure why.. I put them up on 6th January.. I'm also having a problem uploading them again, but I will persevere and let you know when I sort it out.. Shaving my hair turned out to be very liberating and making a video of it turned it into some something fun and very therapeutic.. I faced my fears and phobias as the hair was coming off and was able to laugh at them.. Inka..

Let me know when you find them, I'd love to see it. Me and my girlfriends are going away for a girls only slumber party weekend in the mountains of New Hampshire in Oct., I told them we can have a shaving party, so looks like I'll be making my own vidoes if I have the guts..
