Advice re: managing a career and CMT?

Does anyone have any advice regarding working in spite of CMT? I'm not even sure that's what I have, yet, but the symptoms are similar enough that, even if it turns out to be something else, your advice will be appreciated.

Entry level positions often involve a lot of menial tasks like filing paperwork, stapling, addressing envelopes, affixing labels, running errands, etc. These things must be done quickly and efficiently, often at a moment's notice and sometimes under the unnerving gaze of an impatient supervisor. We call this "paying our dues." Unfortunately, when you're experiencing the lack of balance, muscle weakness, and crushing fatigue that come with CMT, these easy, menial tasks are very difficult and require tons of effort and concentration. Sometimes, it is impossible to perform a task (like, for instance, gift wrapping) both correctly and quickly. How, especially in this economy, is a person with CMT supposed to "pay his/her dues" well enough to climb to the next level of the ladder before the disease progresses?

" not sure? I am in a similar situation with doubt as to what i have.... as a primary teacher.... on your feet all day and having to write exceptionally neatly. i find my tolerance levels have decreased also which makes me very snappy... maybe due to fatigue? I am currently looking at another direction; teaching swimming where i will be in the water and hopefully this avenue will be ok. I kind of feel "normal' in the water. Is there a career officer you could talk to or ...... can't think of the role , but someone who could assess your work ability and make suggestions as to a suitable job. I am from Australia and maybe things are a little different.Good luck and let me know if you find a job we can do.????? "

" I would suggest to take some computer related courses, and enter in to the world of IT. It would be an easy task as to sit on chair the whole day and just pushing the keys on your keyboard.
I am a computer programmer and believe me it would be an easy job. My daughter who is just 5 years has CMT as well but she likes playing games in computer.

Best Regards,
Karar haider "

" Well I am 50 yrs old and I retired from the USAF when I was 40 and I gave them 20 yrs and didn't miss a beat I also held a job for the most part required a high amount of your body to accomplish the tasks. I have had CMT all my life and lived the most part struggling to stay aside the others and did it. just try your best and that is all you can do if you fail then try something a little less demanding on you. Just don't give up on yourself because when you do that you are making a step in a very wrong direction. "
