I have to go for a coloscopy on the 17th

They tried to tell me that most abnormal pap smears arent cancer "yadda yadda yadda" but that doesn't keep me from being terrified....

" I'm glad you didn't hear anything crazy! Chances are, you have moderate - severe dysplasia (usually, they won't do a LEEP if mild). The LEEP also can help the doctor to see just how far the lesions go. I had mine a month after my colposcopy and biopsy, and for me, it wasn't that bad. I had mine with a local anesthetic, so was completely aware of the whole experience. It's over rather quickly, and I felt much like I did after the biopsy.

Just keep in mind that dysplasia is not cancer. Even if they tell you you have severe (or high grade) dysplasia, you are way ahead of the worst. I wish you all the best, and hope your results come back favourably. "
