Hello. Today I had a colposcopy. My Dr. informed me that my pap results came back "invasive cancer legion." The Dr. wanted to biopsy but I asked her to wait a month. I'm 4 mths pregnant. with a much wanted and already loved baby. We lost another baby on Christmas last year. I don't want to take any chances of another miscarriage.
She in returned asked me if I would terrminate to have the radical histerectomy that I will likely need. When my responce was no, she agreed to hold off the month. I have so many questions now that I home stewing on this all day. My number 1 question is Could the pap result be wrong? For the women that have crvical cancer is this how it started? I think the invasive part scares me the most. I'm 29 years old I have 3 little girls at home that need their mommy. I'm scared and looking for any answers. Please take a moment and tell me how your story started. Thanks Posted on 07/01/09, 11:07 pm |

CookKell ~ I am SO sorry for what you are facing right now. Your story broke my heart. (( Hugs ))
The only advice I could give is to go for a second opinion if you are not confident in your current Dr's diagnosis. Maybe there is something they can do to treat the cancer (slow it's progression) until the baby is safely born...... I wish you the best and I will keep you in my prayers.

CookKell,
I am so sorry for your news. I have heard of women having treatment for cervical cancer during pregnancy. If I were you, I would try to find a Gyn Oncologist. In my experience, I was bleeding abnormally so I went to my gyn. He examined me and saw a mass. He immediately referred me out to a gyn oncologist, which is who who did my radical hysterectomy. I, like yourself, am young (33 when diagnosed). I also have three children, so I know what you are going through as far as that goes. I will say a prayer for your health as well as peace in your heart. Just know that you are not in this battle alone. Keep us posted. Hugs and take care.

Welcome, CookKell,
I am sorry to hear that you're going through this, especially while you're in such a vulnerable state. Cervical cancer is very curable...there are many survivors here who will be able to echo that and give you reassurance. If you can, please look for QueenieECJ and Colored Cheerios. Both of those women have been through so much and have pull through stronger than ever! I agree with YoxDoyle and jjinosteen that a second opinion and a referral to a Gyn Oncologist are in order. They will tell you what the risks are in carrying your pregnancy to term. I wish you, your baby and family strength and fortitude to find right doctor who will provide you the answers and treatment that you need. Take deep breaths and make some phone calls. You are not alone here. Hugs and grace, Kelley

Thank you all so much. I have decided to go and get the biopsy on Monday. My wishful thinking side just hopes that the pap smear results will be all wrong. I guess we'll see. Does anyone know how long it will take to get results?
Again Thank you so much. Good luck, may god bless you in all your battles

A pathology report should not take any longer than 7-10 days (maybe sooner but don't count on it).
Best wishes to you.

I agree with YoxDoyle, jjinosteen & kelleybean that a second opinion at this point from a GYN oncologist would be good in view of your pregnancy and desire to bring it to term. You're in a difficult situation. My heart goes out to you. God bless!

I am sorry to hear your news and my prayers are with you and your family. I also agree that a second opinion would be the next step, but I also say please do not wait. You have some tough decisions to make and have so much to be grateful for. I am a mother of 3 and just got home today from my radical hysterectomy and although I cannot have anymore children. I am grateful that I have my 3 sons.
