I am a 38 year old female with 3 children and a husband and was just diagnosed with cervical cancer. Although I feel I am doing pretty good considering, I still cannot believe it. I have not one risk factor and am a very healthy person. When my pap came back abnormal I prepared myself for the worse and then the biopsy came back and it was cancer. I held my composure and left the doctors office. When I called my husband, I broke down. He and I just could not believe it. Then I went in for a LEEP and that confirmed the cervical cancer was more than at the surface. I go for a CT SCAN today and am in the process of drinking my CT SCAN drink as I type. I pray that there is no spreading. What I have found is that my husband reacts to my behavior. If I am sad, he gets sad, so I have been determined to stay positive and try to go about doing my normal routine. I find this helps him but for me it is a battle. That is why I am glad I have this support group so that I can talk with all of you. Wish me luck as I go for my scan in a couple of hours.

Hello, I am new to this site and just saw your post. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer almost 1 year ago and underwent a radical hysterectomy. I will say a prayer for you that you caught it early. I know this is a very stressful time. I do not follow my own advice, but I can tell you that you will be much better off if you just take it one step at a time. Start a journal. Write down all of your questions, take it with you to the doctor, etc. Also, take someone with you to your appointments if you can. My husband was my rock during this time, he went with me to every appointment and he would always remind me what the doctor said. I had a tendency to remember the bad parts and forget the good parts. If you have specific questions or just want to vent, feel free. I had a very favorable diagnosis, but it has been extremely difficult on my emotional state. Prayers and hugs. Jennifer

I forgot to mention, look up QueenieEJC (Pat). She has an amazing survival story. I am sure when she sees your post she will add some inspiration. I just met her yesterday (on this site) and I poured my heart out to her. You can tell she is amazing person and someone that I am sure can bring you comfort and support. Just like she told me, "you are not alone my friend!" Please keep us posted on your status.

Hi Jen,
Thank you for your prayers. I just got home from the hospital and had my CT SCAN. I go for my hysterectomy next week. My husband is doing all that he can but I am usually the strong one. He is very supportive and comes to as many appointments as possible. It is funny how after you get a diagnosis all of a sudden any symptom you experience you want to link it to the cancer. I cannot be angry at my self and ask "why" I did what I was suppose to do. I have none of the risk factors and have religiously got my PAP smears every single year. I have had a diary since I was in the fifth grade and continue to do so even now, so writing has been something that I have always done. Yes, it does help. I hope I caught it early and will let you and everyone else what my status is as events unfold. Again, I thank you for your support and wish you all the best. Prayers and hugs to you as well.

That is great that they are getting you in next week. The fact that they are doing a hysterectomy means the cancer is not too advanced, so that is great. Keep us posted.

Hi Jen,
The doc called this morning and the CT SCAN of my lungs, abdomen and bladder have all come back clear! So I just hope and pray that next week the lymph nodes will be clear as well. I will keep you posted. Thank you again for your support!

Praise God! It sounds like everything is moving along quickly for you, which is great. The sooner you know what you are dealing with, the better off you will be! I have just been through all of what you are going through right now, please let me know if I can help you with. I will tell you after my surgery they sent me home the next morning. I did NOT feel well enough to go home. I should have demanded to stay, but I didn't. When I got home I spiked a fever before sundown. I know everyone is different, so you may be just fine. But if you don't feel well, stay in the hospital an extra day! ;)
