I went to the Drs. today...

I finally caved, and went to my GYNO. this morning.
I mentioned last month about abnormal bleeding as well as vaginal bleeding during a bowel movement.
I was also diagnosed yrs. ago as having stage
CIN 3 dysplasia(HPV). I had a successful LEEP done w/ clear paps since.

As per the norm, I was spotting this morning during my appt. The Dr. found a firm polyp. She then had me do blood work, and scheduled me for a transvaginal ultrasound for 4 hours later.

The tech. took roughly 20 pictures. She said she wasn't able to discuss the findings. I told her I didn't have very many BCP left, and if she would ask the DR. for a prescription as I had forgotten earlier in the morning. Her response was "you will be back in the office within the next 2 weeks". I told her that seemed liked a long time to wait for results. She told me my DR. would call in the next 3 days w/ the results and will be asked to come back into the office.

Now I'm a bit nervous. Is the Dysplasia back? Is there something more than just a polyp? I hate the "wait and see" game. Anyone have any thoughts?

" If you've been seeing the gynecologist regularly and this wasn't found earlier, whatever it represents is most likely an early finding. Waiting is always hard, but guess that's what you'll need to do. After the three days though, I'd certainly call the doctor if you don't hear back. "

" I'm def. going to call if I don't hear anything by Friday. I havent had a PAP since Oct. 2007- I was a bit over-do.
Do You think so many pics would have been neccessary if everything looked *normal*? "

" When the polyp was found on examination, the transvaginal ultrasound was ordered. The 20 pictures are probably considered routine for a complete look at the polyp. It's hard to wait to hear from the doctor, but you'll soon have your answers. I hope you'll get a good report. Let me know how it goes. God bless. "

" I hated the waiting part of things. Just remember to breathe and distract yourself from it, a few times a day. If only for a few minutes at a time.

It sounds like the technician was doing what was necessary to keep you from hearing "We didn't get a complete picture of what this is. So you have to go back and have another one". (Or something like that).

Even though you haven't had a pap in awhile, you are probably still looking at something benign or in its early stages. Polyps happen a lot and usually are not serious.

Lots of good thoughts and engery sent your way. :) Please let us know when you find out. "

" the waiting is the worse part. At least if ya know whats going on you can deal with it and move on. I'm waiting since April(when i found out I had severe dyplasia(had never even heard the word before)I went for a coloscopy April 19th got results that were confusing for the doc,now on the 11th of June i go in for a conization. I've really tried to pre-occupy myself with other things..I'll start thinking about it more next week..until then nothing i can do. "
