I just got my cervical cancer diagnosis yesterday. I am being referred to a very good Gyn Oncologist next week and I know I am in good hands.

What I'm having a huge problem with is that this whole thing feels very surreal to me. I feel like it's happening to everyone around me because they're so upset and don't know how to handle it. My poor husband was up last night at 2:00am sick to his stomach. How can I comfort everyone around me when I myself don't even know what's going to happen?

" Hi,
I was just diagnosed several weeks ago and like you it was so sudden. I am in my late 30's, no STD's, no HPV, one lover who is my highschool sweetheart and husband. I don't smoke and had sex in my senior year of highschool. For me I just absolutely could not believe it when the doc came back and said cancer. I am hoping I got it early. I have been having regular paps since 18 years of age. I am a very healthy individual, so like you, it was surreal. It has been hard on my husband as well. I take care of the house, fianances, and planning. I never thought this would happen to me. I agree that it is time to take care of yourself. I too have a positive attitude. I have only told my husband, my brother who is a minister and my sister in law. No one else knows and I chose it to be this way because I need normalcy in my life to have the strength to get through this. I go for a CT scan today to find out if there is any spreading and go for a full hysterectomy next week. My prayers go out to you. I am just glad that I found this site so that I can talk with those that can relate. "
