ok i am so beyond confused. i had surgery on october 31 to have a cervical conization and have a tubal ligation. tests came back and confirmed that i do have cancer and was told i need a radical hysterectomy and possibly radiation. i was in the dr.s office on nov 14 and that is when i was told this. i was told other than that my surgery went well. then i received a call from my dr on dec 19 and he told me that he had been thinking about it and he told me to start using condoms until i could get a hysterectomy because my right fallopian tube was so embedded down with scar tissue that he couldnt cauterize it! he said he burnt "the left one to a crisp" but was unable to get to the right! and that i needed to take a pregnancy test and call him with the results. so now here i am with cancer, 3 children already and not wanting a 4th, and he is just now telling me to be cautious because he couldn't do my tubal afterall. I'm so beside myself. My family thinks i should consider sueing him. I dont' know what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

" I think he told you to use the condoms to prevent a pregnency due to how the operation went. And sometime the conization is able to get all the nasty cancer cells but it seems in your case he wasn't able to get it all with clear margins. Did he give you an estimate of what he thinks your cervical cancer may be? I know no stage can be confirmed until they do the hysterectomy. Also, are you having a gyno/oncologist do this surgery? I highly recommend it, anytime cancer is suspected, no matter how good your gynocologist is, you should have a gyno/oncologist do the surgery "

" Also, he probably didn't do the tubal because of the cancer and you need a radical hysterectomy. There could be a chance of spreading the cancer if he had done the tubal. That actually probably saved your life. "

" The conization was done most likely because of cervical dysplasia. In your case, the conization was also diagnostic for cervical cancer which would require the radical hysterectomy which was shown by the staging done during conization. Apparently, as you requested, tubal ligation was also attempted at that time and only one Fallopian tube could be cauterized. The question remains why the doctor didn't tell you sooner that the other tube wasn't done successfully. "
