I just had my second surgery for ovarian cancer on Thursday. The first surgery was robotic. I was wondering how long the pain will last? Does anyone have any advise about surgical recovery?

" I'm not sure what type of surgery you had, was it a debulking? I had a total pelvic exenteration, my incision was abdominal and not with the Davinci. I think it may take a while longer, but not much. Everybody is different. I am 13 weeks post of, my incision was up to my breasts and I am doing fine (knock on wood of course.). It did take me until around week 9 or 10 to really start feeling better and cut down on the pain meds. But I did have a very huge surgery, they removed all pelvic organs and I had reconstruction done. But don't get upset if you think it is taking you awhile, just take it easy and try not to do too much too soon. I still don't do any real lifting, nothing over 5 pounds, I do light housework. I wouldn't even think of doing anything until you speak with your doctor at your next follow up. Better safe than sorry, I have heard of women over doing it and ended up in worse shape or needing more surgery for repairs for anything from hernias to incision problems. Good luck, I'll pray for a good recovery for you. "
