Only a GYN oncologist can do a radical hysterectomy. There is a Dr. Mark Reedy in Abeline, TX. Is this the physician who you were referred to? Certainly, Dr. Reedy's office could give you information about the closest GYN oncologist if he can't help you. Another good resource is MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which is a distance from you, but if you can't go there, they probably could provide the names & addresses of specialists closer. The gynecologist who did your conization should also be able to direct you to a GYN oncologist. The importance of acting quickly on this cannot be overstressed. Do your homework, and get moving!

You need a gynecologic oncologist as everyone has told you. If your local gyn onc doc is not around you need to have your insurance company or HIS office find you the nearest good referral.
