Well i never thought i'd see the day when i have to ask for support and advise, i'm the kind of person who gives all the advice and support to my friends. I have just been told by my Dr. that i have CIN 3 cervical dysplasia, i am in total shock i went to see the doctor for a check up as to be honest i haven't been for over 6 and a half years after i had my last child via cesarean, i have very heavy bleeding in my menstrual cicle which last on average 10 -14 days but never thought anything of this after having both my kids by cesarean, i left my husband over 4 years ago so bringing up my two kids was to be honest more important than checking out my own health.
I am waiting for my Dr to call me this Monday to arrange for a biopsy and something else to do with a microscopic reading, to be honest i was with my doctor for over an hour and a half and can not remember anything he told me apart from it's not good news and it's an urgent matter, so i was wondering if anyone could fill in the blank spaces for me, like what happens next, how quick does anything happen and i guess really is this a diagnoise for cancer, i am normally a very strong person but i have crumbled i haven't slept since i found out on wednesday and just can not stop crying and worrying. So was hoping that someone out there could help me understand this situation. I thank you in advance for your answers Posted on 11/22/08, 12:11 pm |

Tatty, What the doctor is going to do is a biopsy with microscopic examination to see the extent of the dysplasia or abnormal cervical cells. You're on the right track. Keep all your appointments from now on - most important!
Found this info online: "In severe dysplasia (CIN III), also called carcinoma-in-situ, the entire thickness of cells is abnormal, but the abnormal cells have not yet spread below the surface or basement membrane. Carcinoma-in-situ literally means "cancer in place". This severity of dysplasia MUST BE TREATED because it will most often develop into invasive cancer."
