HELP!!! Diagnosed with Cervical Cancer
Watch this
View More Posts Ignore
I just got diagnosed with cervical cancer or CIN one of the two. I really dont know. My doctor described my condition as stage 1 of 4 (4 being full blown invasive cancer) but I remember him also in another visit saying something about precancerous cells. I am going to go for Cryosurgery on the 9th of April 2008 and would like to know what to expect and if its the cancerous cells or PRE-cancerous cells (aka CIN which according to my research only goes from stages 1-3) that he could be freezing. I would really appreciate any and everything anyone call tell me for support and/or information. Thank you so much for giving me some of your time to answer my cry for help!!! GOD BLESS YOU!

Keep a list every time you think of something you want to know and take it with you to doc! You need to have all answered for piece of mind. Good luck! HUGS!!! "

" Your doctor needs to answer all of your questions so that you leave his/her office knowing what you're dealing with. Make a complete list and have him/her explain everything to you. It's a lot to take in all at once, so taking someone along with you is a good idea also. "

" Agreed with EVERYONE on ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS! Cryotherapy is really quite a simple procedure - I had it done 11 times in a 2 year period...though it is extremely scary the first time...if you react normally it will be fairly painless, though you may have some cramping. I would also agree that it sounds like you have pre-cancerous BUT do not hesitate to ask many many many and all questions...GOOD LUCK! "

" The others have said it already...ask lots of questions and take total charge of your medical care. So glad that this was caught early in the game. Best to you! "

" Sorry I can't provide any advice but I can understand what your going through (even though I am significantly older than you). I have just been diognosed with both cervical and endometrial cancer and have been told I need a radical hysterectomy. The sugery is set to take place in three weeks. I too have always wanted children and am having a hard time resigning myself to the fact that this will not happen. When I learned of the diognosis I went home to visit my parents. While I was home I met up with a childhood friend who could not have children of his own. He is now the proud father of 4 adopted children who he says he couldn't love more than if they were his biological children. He told me that he and is wife of 13 years are happy with the way his life has turned out. I don't know if this post will help you but it helped me. Thanks... "

" Welcome, Keahi. You're definitely not alone here.

I echo the wise words of the others here in that you should present all of your concerns to your doctor so that he/she can arm you with the information you need to ease your fears. The more you know, the better off you will feel.

Are you seeing a regular OB/Gyn or a Gyn oncologist? Also, what kind of biopsies have you had? Because that will help to determine what type & stage the cancer is.

Best wishes to you and many hugs. Keep in touch here and let us know how you're doing. There are many survivors here, myself included who will be with you every step of the way.
